Philips 32'' when turned on picture goes off after 5 seconds

After pressing the channel changer buttons picture comes back on. Do you have any solutions to this problem?

  • choplouis Jan 03, 2009

My grandfather is using basic cable and the remote is a philips remote. We tried another remote which is a philips but it still didn't help. Once, you power the tv on for the first time it will stay on for about 5 seconds then it will turn itself off. The power light will stay on for a short period of time after this happens then it will go off. In order to power the tv back on you have to push one of the channel change buttons to get your picture and audio back.

Do you have any solutions to this problem?

Remote control code required for virgin TiVo & 50 inch blaupunkt TV combo

I have just managed to do this. I cannot tell you the code as I had to do it manually, but this is how I did it.

point the remote away from the TiVo and hold down the clear button and the to button until the free light flashed twice.

type in the code 0999 and the light will flash again. Then point the remote at the to and press and hold the channel up button. You will now scroll throw all the codes.

it will take about a minute but eventually the to will go off. When this happens release the channel up button and hold down the green on button to try turn the tv on with the TiVo remote.

if it comes on press ok and this will store the code. If it doesn't come on, use the blaupunkt to remote to turn the tv back on and then keep holding down the channel up button to scroll through more codes. When the to goes off again release the channel up button and try turn it on with the TiVo remote. If it works this time store the code by pressing ok

for me it took two attempts to turn the to on but eventually it worked on the second code

I am not getting picture on my TV it stic on only one channel we are chengiong channel but same sound is comming also we are getting a blue coloured K on right hand side of TV

That blue K means you are in the service mode. Unplug your set and wait 30 seconds. Then at the same time you plug it back in, you need to be holding the volume down button and the input button.
The TV should turn back and the blue K should turn pink. Once this happens, press the volume and channel down button at the same time. A menu should come on the screen. With your remote, press the up arrow to reach the nest page. The first option should say INIT. Arrow to the right and hit enter. In a few seconds your screen should turn green and say success. Unplug the TV and wait 30 seconds. Plug the set back in and turn on your TV. You can then set your set back the way you want.

I lost the booklet with all the codes for my remote and i need the code to work my tv my tv is a symphonic

I suggest you try these steps..

1.Turn the television set on by pressing the "Power" button on the set.

2. Find the "Code Search" button on the Philips Magnavox remote. This button will be labeled or will be a different color than the other buttons on the remote (depending on which Philips Magnavox remote you own)

3. Hold the "Code Search" button down for about ten straight seconds. The light on the Philips Magnavox remote should then stay on.

4. Starting pressing either the "Up" or "Down" channel button on the Philips Magnavox remote. Continue pressing the same button until the television responds to the remote. It could take a few minutes for the channel to change so you'll need to have patience when searching for the remote code in this manner.

5. Press the power button on the Philips Magnavox remote once the channel has changes. If the device shuts off, press the power button again to turn the TV back on. If the TV turns on, the remote has been programmed correctly. Repeat the entire process if your remote is not programmed.

I hope this helps...

Philips 32" lcd hdtv. HDTV no longer displays, but sound still ok

I reset the comcast cablebox. I totally unplugged the cablebox for 20 seconds and then plugged it back in. Turned on both the cablebox and the tv and the HDTV channels operated correctly.

Blank box

Turn off the Closed Captioning feature. On channels that don't have closed captioning, you just get a blank box.

No picture

Had the same problem ourselves.

Press set up on remote control.

Press the down button on remote control 5 times then press select.

Press the down button 2 times and press select.

Press select again. After 5 to 10 seconds the machine will switch itself off.

Turn off at the mains and then turn back on again and the dvd goes into preparing mode.

Go to AV channel and go through initial set up as you have just reset to factory conditions.Don't worry about any programmes on the hard drive they will still be there.Worked for us.
