The clicking noise may be the blade hitting the side of the mower or it was not put on properly. It needs a balance to the aluminum flywheel on top of the engine. The blade adapter and blade provide this balance for the engine to run.

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower/weedeater is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, You will first seat the jet screws and count the number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns they were in/out.
Please do not forget to rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

SOURCE: I have a Yard Machine
How old is this lawn mower, and have you replaced the spark plug recently?
Also, check to make sure the air filter is not clogged, preventing the engine from breathing.

This is a very hard question to answer.
Does this happen throughout running time?
Does this happen only when you start the mower and for a few minutes?
How are you storing the mower, flat or on it's side?
Is there a hole in the side of your mower?
Is the oil leaking between the engine block and oil pan?
Your question hasn't been answered, not because it has no substance, but because no one really knows what the problem is to make a substantial diagnosis. You have to keep in mind that my fellow repair GUYS, as well as myself, can't see what you see, so that makes YOU our eyes.
Try again , be as descriptive as you can , and maybe somebody will answer this question. GOOD LUCK.
