Question about Eureka 4718AVZ LightForce 300 Bagless Upright Vacuum
Purchased new a couple years back. Hasn't worked properly since we bought it and has been sitting idle. My hubby isn't one to follow through with things and I simply haven't had the time to take care of it since he lost the receipt, otherwise it would have been returned and exchanged. It has never had enough suction to make the power paw spin and the self cleaning duster's fibers only vaguely move on the top 1/10th when the button to clean is depressed. I have brought it over to my Mom's and hooked up the power paw to her 12 amp vac and it works like a charm, I also hooked up the hose of my Mom's 12 amp vac to my lightforce 300's self cleaning duster and depressed the button to see what it would do.... the entire duster spun in the cleaner and the fibers were cleaned like it was a whirlwind vortex inside there..... So.... Help me out here and let me know how I can fix this ******'s lack of sucking power..... Thanks so much ahead of time for any and all help!
When this happens to me I do two things. The first is to empty the cannister but when you do (with the vacuum unplugged) stick your hand up inside of where the cannister goes.Sometimes that is filled with debris. Pull as much as you can out. There is another part inside there that you can twist and pull out - this will help you pull out more of the trapped debris. Replace that part and the cannister - usually there's a blockage and just removing some of that debris will cause a bunch more to dump in to the cannister. You may have to repeat this process two or 3 times untill no more debris comes out when you turn the vacuum back on.
The second tip solution is to clean the filter which can be found on the front of the vacuum. There's a clear plastic cover, a black rectangular this that hold the filter sponge and inside of that, the filter sponge. I just rinse the little sponge inside and shake off the thing that holds the sponge (Sorry, don't know the technical terms). Put it back together and you should have suction - viola.
Hope this helps.

First, check to see if there is suction without the hose on the base. If not, and there is no blockage, the problem is likely a damaged impeller, the small fan that makes the suction. That will have to be replaced.
