Sounds like u have ignition or fuel problems, could be module in distribator or rotor button, fuel pump, cloged fuel filter or it is possible the wires got crossed, could be coil but it's rare because they didnt give much trouble but its possible.

Need to know the signs of the engine coil going out in 1994 GMC Sierra 1500 350V8

Hard starting or won't start, no power, stalling, mis-fire...etc.
How old are the plugs and wires? Plugs wear out, and with wires, its the age not the miles.
Please use AC/Delco wires, from a dealership. Yes they cost more, but you will thank me.
Has your fuel filter been changed recently?

Engines must have Air, Fuel and Ignition. Checking these systems will most likely find your problem.

did you see what volts the battery is? and what volts it goes to while trying to start it? should have over 12, and then over 10 while trying to start. Sounds like a battery, or... a poor connection.

Trouble shoot 1994 GMC will not start

The only two things that can cause an engine not to run is fuel and/or fire. Check the plugs. Pull a wire and ground it to see if it is getting fire. If it is getting fire then its a fuel problem. Anything from a fuel pump, to an ignition fuse. Coils, sensors etc. Fuel or fire.
