SOURCE: Problem with winding thread onto

first you must make sure the winder shaft is turning by moving it to the right a little and see if you can turn it by hand.
If it is turning ok then there is a rubber ring on the other end of the winder shaft and it should come in contact with the drive which turnes it ,if it is worn it might need a new rubber.

SOURCE: Unable to wind bobbin on Brother Css-8150 stopped suddenly

Checking to see if in fact that the bobbin shaft is turning. Run it without any bobbin on the bobbin shaft. Make sure that it is push over in the correct position and run it. I checked on mine and it does make the whirring sound and the the shaft does spin. Also check underneath the shaft to see if there is any thread wrapped around it. ( I had problems with that in the past). I hope this helps,

SOURCE: Bobbin winder shaft won't spin. LCD says bobbin winding.

I had the same problem. The trick is to make sure that when you put the bobbin on the winder that the notch on the bobbin clicks on the notch holder. So turn the bobbin on the winder until you hear a click or that the bobbin can not be turned. To check if the bobbin is on the holder correctly start the bobbin winder without thread. If the bobbin is engaged on the winder it will spin, if not then it is not set on the notch. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Bobbin winder will not spin on sewing machine

If you take the top off you will see a tiny rubber tire that engages the winder to the handwheel. Over time they get really soft are really hard and disintgrate. If you have a local sewing shop take the old one in and get a new one to slip on it takes only a few minutes and cost usually less that $2.00

I have the Bernina Artista 180. It is not recognizing when I turn the bobbin winder on. Any suggestions?

For a quick fix and until you can get your machine serviced, pick up a Sidewinder bobbin winder (check to make sure your bobbins will work since the larger Bernina bobbins may not). I purchased a Sidewinder a few years ago and use it all the time. Saves wear-n-tear on the machine but also lets you quickly wind multiple bobbins without having to unthread your machine. Most Sidewinders are battery operated, but mine also has an AC adaptor for electrical usage too.

My 1130 bobbin threader turns, but will not wind thread.

Check that the bobbin winder is snapped all the way over.

Sorry, unable to provide more help, but a standalone bobbin winder may be helpful. You can find one brand (called "Sidewinder") at sewing stores like JoAnn's or online for ~ $30. Just verify that your bobbins will work (some Singer bobbins do not), but I assume your machine is a Bernina. Even if your bobbin winder is repaired, this standalone bobbin winder will save wear and tear on your machine--also, makes it so-o-o-o much easier to wind a bobbin without first removing the thread from your machine.

Bobbin on Bernina 807 won't wind?

Please follow the logic checks and possible corrections:

1. Check the winder shaft for a sticking or a stuck condition. If stuck or sticking, add a drop or two of mineral spirits to the winder shaft and the winder support bushing. This will generally release the winder shaft.
If the winder shaft becomes free wheeling, clean off excess solvent and apply a drop of Bernina machine oil which is typically a class 68 machine oil. You can also use a common white mineral sewing machine oil.
Do not use WD-40 or 3 in 1 oil!
If WD-40 had been used prior to the winder seizure then you'll know why....Removing sticky WD-40 residues requires further measures.

2. If only the rubber wheel has hardened, you will need to replace the winder hub with a new hub and replaceable winder ring or the entire winder can be replaced. There are some very good after-market parts available online.

3. If the winder parts are good and you are describing a condition where the hand-wheel will not release so that the machine drives while trying to wind a bobbin, this would requite another question and detailed answer... SewTechnical Home

Bernina 135 bobbin winds unevenly

If you are finding that the bobbin is winding with more thread towards one edge of the bobbin than the other, the bobbin winder motor needs to be adjusted so that the angle of the winder shaft is properly aligned with the tension disc next to the head cover. Unfortunately, unlike many of the other models, you have to remove the covers on the Activa range to get at the adjuster. There is a spring-tensioned screw just to the left of the bobbin winder motor that adjusts the angle of the motor and therefore how it loads the bobbin. If the winder is loading the bobbin with most of the thread towards the bottom edge, the screw should be turned clockwise and if most towards the top, it should be turned anticlockise. Make adjustments until the thread is winding evenly or, at least, towards the centre of the bobbin.

If you are finding that your bobbin is being loaded somewhat randomly, make sure you are using the vertical spool holder to hold the spool and that you've got a foam pad under the thread spool. Route the thread through the thread guide before winding around the tension disc in the correct direction (see the arrow on the case) and ensure that the spool and thread do not vibrate unduly when the bobbin is being wound. If you let the spool vibrate whilst the bobbin is loading, it may result in varying tension on the thread and uneven winding onto the bobbin.

Hi - hope someone can help me. I have a Bernina 121 and no manual. It seems that the bobbin winder is on - and I can't figure out how to switch it off so the needle will go on.

Do you use the flywheel to disengage the clutch and wind the bobbin?

Alternatively, newer machines have a bobbin winder on top and usually you just flick the winder over to engage, then back to disengage. There may be a button on the front that drives the winder motor during this process.

You may find some ongoing help if you join the Yahoo Bernina virtuosa user group,

Good luck.

I own a Bernina Deco 340. While winding the bobbin, The thread keeps wrapping around the bobbin post

I have that machine. Either the bobbin isn't all the way down on the bobbin winder or the thread isn't under the top part of the bobbin winder guide. These must be plastic bobbins.

Bernina 180 - winding thread onto bobbin spool

If the bobbin winder spindle turns freely by hand and the macine runs fine with the foot controller then it may be the small motor that runs the bobbin winder that is at fault. If this is the case then your local service tech should be able to relace it. It is not a very costly part so don't be to worried.

Bernina 145 Bobbin winding problem

If the winder is working without thread as it should you can rule out an electronic and motor issue. At this point it won't hurt to remove the two screws on top and lift your top cover off. Take a close look at your winder and see if there is any thread or anything wound around or blocking it. There are one or two screws that will adjust the eveness of your bobbinwinding but I don't think this is part of the problem (just a slight turn for that until the bobbin winds evenly). There is a spring beneith the winder that may have popped loose, check that but if the little arm snaps back and forth thats ok. The spring should be in the second tooth of the gear notches.
I hope this helps.
