Magnavox VCR U095 39760450-can not put in 2009 YR to record

I tried to set the VCR to record a program after the start of the new year. When I tried to put in the date with the year as 2009, I was unable to get it to take the 9 after the last zero. How can I reconfigure the VCR to record using 2009 as the year. I live in the Dallas Texas area. The pertinent serial numbers etc. apppear in the summarize the problem section above.

Regards,

Delbert Whitney

Nice try, but calendars repeat every 28 years when you factor in leap years (you just went back to when Jan 5 was on the same day). Check out this page for advice on choosing a better year:

Therefore, to simulate 2009's calendar you should use 1981.

P.S. -- Please keep bombarding Magnavox tech support with questions on this problem. It is absolutely INEXCUSABLE that they know "nothing" about their equipment. It is also crazy that they would sell us ticking time bombs!

The guy I spoke to on the phone tried to get out of providing any answer by saying the he works for Philips, and that magnavox is an acquisition that he knows nothing about. Philips bought magnavox 28 years ago!! The statue of limitations has run out on that excuse guys, you have to take ownership of what you sell.

If you made it so your device's calendar expires in 2009, you designed a defective product. Calendar's are perpetual, their devices should last forever!

Don't let Philips/Magnavox off the hook this one. Keep their tech support busy.

I called Magavox and Matt told me they had no information for my very very old vcr. He suggested that I trick the machine and use a date similar to the current calendar. For instance, today is Monday, January 5th. I went back to 2004 and found the same day and date. I programmed my vcr for 30 minutes to test it out and it worked. If you can't beat it, join it. Hope your vcr works too. Happy new year!

I have a Magnavox Digital Video Disc Recorder & Video Cassette Recorder , Model No. VM426MG9A. I bought the unit in August 2010. When I go to record a program, it seems OK but when it starts...

The recording set-up must have been program to record only in 5 minutes. You could play around with the remote and try to enter the record set-up. The problem with the VCR must be a worn-out belt or a dirty loading mechanism. You could try to replace the belt or clean the surface area where all the mechanism slide together or make contacts and put an small amount of recommended grease or petroleum jelly.

Just hooked up my new Magnavox DV220MW9 DVD Player ? VCR Recorder. I was able to set the time and a vcr timer program but now I can't switch the source. It now comes on as the DVD but neither the remote...

You need to release the timer to access the VCR. Press the Timer Set button on the remote or the Stop/Eject button on the recorder. Then press the VCR button.

Please note: the scheduled recording will not run as programmed unless you press the Timer Set on the remote again. (The timer locks the VCR until the scheduled ON time.) The DVD player is controlled separately and becomes the default unit.

I hope this helps.

While trying to record a t.v.program, I could not

maybe your video does not go upto 2010? If you set it to 1993 the dates and days wil be the same as for 2010.. until 29FEB 2012 - that way you can still program recordings for another 2 years... hope this helps.

VCR will not go to date 2009

I wish you luck on your search for an answer, but vcr's are programmed for a possible life expectancy.  So ur vcr was expecting to be in a landfill by january 2009 and according to its programming there is not a 2009.  Combo units at walmart are realativly cheap now a days I would recommend picking up a new one.

Dish Pro record code for Mag combo

ZNREL, I've done this with Dish Pro before. Setup the Dish remote to control the Mag combo in the VCR position. Press the SAT button and select the guide. Go to the program in the guide and select it. The "record this program" routine should pop up, set it up. Here's the key, make sure the Dish remote has the VCR button selected and that the remote is placed where it can "see" the Mag combo. At the set time, the Dish remote will change the DishPro to the proper channel and then issue s "record" command via infrared to the Mag combo to start recording. DishNet has all of the device codes to their remotes downloadable from their site.
