RCA CD Player RP8065

It does not work anymore. Is there a way to open the door for the CD's or do I have to break it?

Disc player won't play or even display the songs on the cd

Hi. The most common failure in CD players is dust and dirt on the lens of the laser unit. Due to the rotating disc, static is generated, attracting dust, which collects in the player mechanism. Clean the lens with clear water applied on the cotton tip of an ear cleaner. Use no solvents. This might damage the lens coating.
Another failure reason may be found in the disc or sled motor. Due to the rather slow rotational speed, the collector of these motors gets contaminated with carbon dust. This leads to too high current consumption in these motors. Remedy:: disconnect the motors from the drivers, make them spin for a short while on a rather high voltage.
Say, about 12 to 15 VDC. This "burns out" the carbon dust and removes it by centrifugal action. Of course the entire mechanism has to be taken out of the system. Hope this is of some help to you.

There are a few reasons for this, the gears are seized, the timing gear is out of sync, or the miniture loading belt has broken or stretched.

my suggestion (not necessarily solution) is cleaning.
Although it can take multiple DVD's there is only one reader inside of it.
Do you have small children?? :-)

depending on the age of the player, some of the lasers inside of the player have trouble reading througe the tinted plastic what I would do is try playing different colored discs you can find them at any large chain store such as wal-mart or K-mart relativly cheap

RCA 2656 bookshelf music system cd door

I have a similar stereo system and accidentally put two CD's in one tray and it got stuck and could not open. What I did was unplug everything from the unit and took off the side panel. After some careful fiddling I got it to open. You could try something like that.
