what is the model #? sounds like a fused relay on the control board, or an element that is grounded to the frame. call a tech on this one, 240V appliances are not to be trifled with!

Whirlpool oven, stove and range fault codes (ERC and EOC display errors).

Here a list of Whirpool oven fault codes. The codes had been collected from different service manuals. This was a memo that I wrote for my own use. I think this can be useful to owners and technicians.

F5 - E0 - Check door latch
F5 - E1 - Check door latch
Replace switch if defective

WHIRLPOOL Polara models 5 digit codes:

F1 F0 - EEPROM communication error
Replace ERC
F1 E1 - EEPROM checksum error
Replace ERC
F1 E2:7 - UL A/D errors

F2 E0:4 - Shorted key error
Replace keypad assembly
F2 E1:3 Keytail unplugged
reinsert the keytail
F3 E0:5 Top oven sensor open
Test and replace top probe.
F3 E1:6 Top oven shorted

F5 E1:16 Door latch not operating
Test and eventually replace door latch
F8 E0:17 Refrigeration error
Test the cooling module.
PF Power failure - Does not indicate a fault.
PF occurs when power is disconnected.

WHIRLPOOL
Models SF3, 30'' and 24"

F2 - Oven temperature above specifications
Check 8-pin connector from temp. probe to Electronic Oven Control
F3 - Open oven temperature probe failure
Check wiring, replace oven probe if necessary
F4 - Shorted oven temperature sensor failure
Check wiring harness, replace oven temperature probe if necessary

Hit "bake" or "broil" button and temp setpoint

Hi

This Error indicates a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

1.Our gaz range (with electronic range control) Amana ACS3350AS oven bake works normally at 350 F for 40 minutes, then stops. While the broil can still work at this point, it's likely the Oven - High...

Ovens temps are generally controlled by a probe with two wires called the oven probe(1100 ohms at room temperature for a good one) This probe connects to the main erc control board, which as temperature rises, it changes resistance reading, which is read by the board.......These usually show a fault code on the display when one fails........

The oven ignitor is glowing which ignites the flame. Usually this has to read between 3 to 3.5 amps to be good. (can be 2 or 2.5 and glow and the gas valve will not open) If the ignitor is glowing after 40 minutes, it is most likely the ignitor is bad. (the broil has a separate one, the bake has a separate one) If you do not have a amp clamp to test, you will need to replace part and see what happens, if it fixes problem.......good luck (it could be a sticking gas valve or relay but the ignitor is the most common failure, fragile part also, do not drop it)

My Kenmore Elite oven will take over an hour to preheat to 350 degrees and never does get done preheating.

There's a few things that can cause this.

1. Check to see if the both that Bake and Broil elements (burners) are heating up. Check the Broil element in Broil mode.

- during pre-heat the Broil element gets cycled on and off for short time durations to speed up the heating. If the Bake element is not working, then the oven will heat, but very slowly and never reach high temperature.

2. If the elements are both working, then it's possible that you have a bad temperature sensor.

- this is a temperature dependent resistance device that should measure 1080 ohms at 70 deg F (room temp).

3. If #1 and #2 are ok, then the problem is with your oven clock/control unit. We rebuild these at fixyourboard.com.

Oven takes too long to preheat. 20 minutes to get t0 300.

3 possibilities:

1. Broil burner is cycled with bake burner during pre-heat ... make sure both burners are coming on during the pre-heat ... could be ignitor or gas valve failure on one burner ... you can check Broil mode to see if the broil burner ignites...

2. Temperature sensor bad or connections corroded ... this can signal the electronic control that the oven is hotter than it actually is...

3. Fault in the controller itself. If this seems likely we can test/repair it for you if you like.

When I try and Bake or Broil the oven beeps and gives a fault code of F3EO

HI. Generally, this will be the cause of a failed oven temp sensor. If your unit's orientation is doubled, the top oven sensor will be the culprit. Some model will incorporate a sensor fuse at the wiring harness. Check the fuse, if equipped, for continuity. If the fuse is bad, replace it. If the fuse is ok, replace the oven temp sensor.

HI. an F-2 during a baking cycle is the result of an out of control oven temp that has reached Temperatures above 615F-630F

If this actual over temperature condition occurred, Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

If no over temperature condition occurred, Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit , not actual oven temperature.
