mrose58 thank you for posting this question about cleaning the WC-8. Seeing that "the experts" at fixya were unable to answer this for you ( and me) I ust had to "doitmyself".
I love my fan and I suspect there's more than us that want to get this puppy apart and clean her up!
So here we go.
After removing the 4 screws on the back I realized this wasn't going to be a simple walk in the park. That's when I went to fixya and google for advise. Finding nothing I set up my "trouble light" and assembled a few of my favorite "fixit" tools. Long skinny screw driver, cardio vascular clamp , metal finger nail file, and a shrimp cocktail fork. None of these tools helped in prying the front grill off.
But I'm the kinda gal that rarely gives up.
Shinning the my trouble light inside I found 4 plastic clip like things holding the front light gray grill to the dark gray housing and after trying to get under the clippy things from the back with my "tools" to dislodge it from the tab I had to find another "tool" that had a sharper curved end for the angle needed to reach the clip on the tab. Remember those long fondue forks you probably sold at your last garage sale Well I hope you kept one cus that's the ticket to reach across the inside of the fan and get under the clip and pop that sucker off. Viola! Front grill is off.
