I suspect the issue is not the firmware- check the security settings you have for your wireless network. If you are using Windows Vista/7, it would be through Network > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Connections > right click on the appropriate connection, go to properties and look for security. Check with a wired pc what the settings are in your Zyxel- match, and you should be able to connect wirelessly
Plug directly into the P-330w and open up a browser. In the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 (or 192.168.10.1) and hit enter. The login will be username: admin password: 1234 If those don't work you'll need to reset the router to actually get back into the settings. Once you are logged in click on Wireless on the left side of the screen and then Security.
If your encryption is set to WEP, click on the "Set WEP" button to the right. The Key1 box is your wireless password. If the encryption is set to WPA then look down near the bottom of the page where it says WPA Pre-Shared Key. The box next to that is where you can type in the password. Retype a password that is 8 or more characters and click Save at the bottom.
Then you should be able to use that password on all your computers when connecting wirelessly.
o set the P-330W to forward applications to allowed ports, click ADVANCED and the Special Applications link. The screen appears as shown.
( from the manual ) 2.2 Accessing the P-330W Web Configurator 1Make sure your P-330W hardware is properly connected and prepare your computer/computer network to connect to the P-330W (refer to the Quick Start Guide). 2Launch your web browser. 3Type "192.168.10.1" as the URL. 4Type “admin” as the User Name 5Type "1234" (default) as the password. 6Click OK to login. You should now see the MAIN MENU screen)
No it will not work you cannot connect a router to another router wirelessly and it will most likely not be detecting each other, routers are built to transmit internet signals from modems if you have a router and a computer but you do not have your own internet connection that will not work conencting to another router you will need USB Wifi Card transmitter/reciever to be able to connect to your friends wireless internet.
but if your friend only has a modem you can lend him your router and get a USB wifi transmitter/reciever to be able to connect to your router that is conencted to your friends modem this will work but will not work if you and you friend will both have a router creating a network.
Do you get an error message? Can you connect with an ethernet cable? Do you see the wireless icon in the system tray? Have you used any encryption? Is your wireless turned on? These devices tend to be pretty fool proof. It might benefit you to start over, paying careful attention to the instructions, which can be confusing.
Step 1 - If your laptop contains an ethernet port for a wired connection -- connect it to the router using a wire. Try to use the internet -- if it works we are assured the router to the internet is correct.
Question 1 - Please respond to this with the make and model of your laptop and if you have one the make and model of wireless adapter for use with the computer.
Question 2 - Was this router originally purchased new or used?
Question 3 - Has this router work wirirelessly with any other computer you know about?
Question 4 - Have you configured this router since you got it?
Question 5 - Have you had someone else configure this router since you got it?
