The one response posted did not address the problem. Kenmore Elite Dishwasher, Model 665.15912, buzzes during operation. The timing of the buzz indicates relay K1 may be at fault. What panel(s) need to be removed to access this relay?

There is no food grinding motor in a dishwasher. That is a pump motor and its not made for grinding food, spoons, or toothpicks. Your dishwasher has a strainer to help prevent this kind of stuff from being drawn into the pump. Your household dishwasher probobly just has a plastic impellar that a spoon will shred to peices. Even commercial diswashers that have cast iron impellars can be stopped dead in their tracks by a smal spoon, normally bending the shaft of the motor.

Your pump motor is probobly stopped up with garbage and if you continue to run it without cleaning the impeller out, you risk damage to the pump, motor, and the impellar.

You will need to remove the pump and clean it out throughly. It may be to late for that pump, it may already be damaged and need to be replaced. If it has been removed, you will need to reinstall the strainer on the pump to prevent this kind of stuff from happening in the future. Also, if the impellar looks chewed up, replace it.

Also, contrary to the old commercial of the housewife putting a whole cake in a dishwasher to clean the cake plate it sits on, I will tell you that this is not good for ANY dishwasher. Always clean the scraps off of the dishes before loading them in the dishwasher.

To my knowledge, the relays of this model are located on the controlboard (Electronic Control Assembly).

Replacement Control Boards are available from here.

The top tray is not cleaning

Your input panel needs to be serviced. Please try to change the AC outlet location first before attempting the service yourself. If your still experiencing problems, then remove the front panel to locate the the soldered joints behind the power button. There is a relay which may be worn and can be changed by you. You may find the area covered in rust and oxidized. If this is the case, then we have found the root cause behind your problem and will need to change out the bad part. I have a kenmoer 66516039402 dishwasher. It is stuck in clean mode the clean light just flashes and the dishwasher will not start a new wash.what can I do to fix it.

Re: clean light blinks seven times on Kenmore Dishwasher model # 66516034401

After reading online and studying the parts diagram/list (included with paperwork that came with washer) and troubleshooting guide/wiring schematic (located under the bottom front kick panel) I determined it could only be 5 things, all easy to look at and check when you pull out the dishwasher (remove racks first and cut power via the circuit breaker).

They are heating element, wiring check for burn marks/melting), high limit thermostat (mounted on bottom of tub against tub, detects if tub overheats), thermistor (screw in mount near motor, detects process temp inside dishwasher, and the control panel. Unfortunately, I started buying and replacing the parts piecemeal (first high limit thermostat, then thermistor, then heating element, even though it tested good). Only then did I remove the panel (top 6 screws inside door, no need to remove the whole door panel) and check the circuit board. After separating the circuit board from its plastic case that covers the back of the board, I saw that the back of the board was badly burned/blackened about the size of a fifty cent piece around the heater circuit relay (this was not visible from the front). Bingo. I should have done a comprehensive check first and save $100 on parts that were probably good. When ordering online, the circuit board part was changed, perhaps to an improved part if the relay burning out is a common problem. Good luck.

Our 4 year old Asko D3121 dishwasher has stopped heating the water and drying off the dishes..is the problem as simple as replacing the heater element ??? If so ,how difficult is it ?

I would check the voltages around the heater before replacing it. Sometimes the thermal overload relay opens out and shuts off the power. Could be a more simpler to replace than the whole heater.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem

I had this same problem so I took the front panel off to access the thermal fuse.  What I found instead was that food had become lodged in the door latch which was keeping the door safety switch from operating properly.  I took a thin screwdriver and removed the food from the cavity.  Since you did not have the problem in your first five years the cavity just might be the problem since that is about the amount of time it took me to get too much food stuck in mine as well. This solution took five seconds and requires no disassembly.

Kenmore Elite ultra wash dishwasher

When it is off, reach down around the base of the spray assy and run your fingers around the entire circular base where junk can get caught. I've found broken glass and plastic utensils. Why do some of us wash disposable utensils? Huh? You may find something like a piece of plastic, glass, or the like that is making the noise. Be careful not to cut yourself.

If this buzzying sound is not coming from the tub, and is actually below the tub and in front right side, it is most likely the electrical relay switch ( which can make that sound when it is straining or failing).

"Sensing" Light

There is a relay on the soap dispenser, if it is a Kenmore quietguard 4, I had the same type of noise, the repairman replaced the dispenser, which to me made no sense, because the relay is activated from the control board. After the $130. for the soap dispenser, he ended up replacing the control board for another $160. Now the dishwasher only goes up to the dry cycle and stops. If you press the heated dry button and then the heated wash button 5 times each, the entire control face will light up and it will do some kind of reset and try a new cycle. I have tried the button pushing and it worked great till it got to the dry cycle, so I am looking for another solution without involving Sears. Good Luck!
