The wheel of my blackberry wont click either.  It sort of worked here and there for about a week, but now it will only allow me to scroll, but it won't click.  You think it might have gotten dirt lodged under neath?

I go to the mms on my 8350i and the compose mms is missing

Please follow the instructions VERY carefully and slowly.
If the steps are followed then it will work.

IMPORTANT: If you have done the fix correctly, i.e. step #4 says Legacy... and step #9 says 19 service books, (if you do not see the Legacy message at step #4, this repair WILL NOT WORK.)

when the fix is completed
When using the BlackBerry on WiFi for Internet set as follows:
Options/advanced / browser/hotspot browser then menu key - save

When using the BlackBerry on cellular (nextel) for Internet set as follows:
Options/advanced / browser/browser then menu key - save

To move from WiFi to cellular you must fully close the browser and Gmail and any Internet applications first; this means when in the browser you MUST click on the menu key and then scroll down and click CLOSE.

Repairing Text Messaging and Internet for BlackBerry 8350i v4
Attached is the file that should repair your messaging and Internet service.

Don't plug in your BlackBerry to the PC.
1) Download 8350i_ServiceBooks_v4.ipd and SAVE (do not RUN or OPEN) this file - and remember where you save it to. (DO NOT RUN it, PLEASE SAVE it.)
2) Insert the BlackBerry CD
Install the Blackberry Desktop Manager (DM). Installation can take 20 mins.
(Skip this step if DM is already installed.)
3) On your BlackBerry, go to Options/ Advanced / Service Books
4) while holding down the ALT key type S B E B
system will respond "! Legacy SB Restore Enabled" use ball to click OK
DO NOT PROCEED to the next step unless you see the "legacy" message.
(if you do not see the Legacy message, this repair WILL NOT WORK.)
5) plug in your BlackBerry to the PC using the USB cable -
be patient and WAIT until the Blackberry has been recognized b the PC before proceeding to the next step
The RESTORE option will not be available to you unless you wait until the BB has been recognized first..

6) Run Desktop Manager DM
ignore any message that appear for updating, just click cancel
when Main Menu appears
7) Click on Backup and Restore
The RESTORE option will not be available to you unless you waited for the BB has been recognized first. If there is no restore option, then
close all programs on the PC and restart the PC. Wait until the BlackBerry has been recognized by the PC before you do step #7 again.
8) Click on Restore
9) select the file 8350i_ServiceBooks_v4.ipd
the Database should says it has 19 records - Click yes
10) when process has completed - Click Main menu on the PC
11) disconnect the BlackBerry from the PC
12) escape out of this screen on the Blackberry
Click the GREEN call key
Click on the MENU key (the Blackberry icon to the right of the trac ball)
scroll to a number that you know to be a cell phone
when the number is highlighted
hopefully you'll see MMS as an option under Call
Send a text (MMS) message to test the feature.
13) Remove the battery and put it back in, so Nextel knows you are there.
14) sending messages should now work; to receive messages, sometimes you'll need to wait a few hours and remove the battery and reinstall, before the Nextel system knows you are there with messaging capability.

I cant send message

You won't be able to send e-mail messages without a BlackBerry data plan, or some sort of data plan. To use BlackBerry e-mail you need a BlackBerry data plan. There are some third-party e-mail clients out there, but they require some sort of data plan.

How can i configure message services to text someone?

First, I assume you have a service provider, a valid cell phone number and that your service provider has enabled text messaging as part of your plan.

To send a text message, go to "Messages", then click "Compose SMS", "[Use Once]", "SMS".

Type the cell phone number of the person you want to send the message to.

Click the trackwheel, then "Continue".

Type a message.

Click the trackwheel.

Click "Send".

If you still are not able to send a text message, you need to verify that "fixed dialing mode" is not enabled. To do that:

Go to Phone Options.

Click "FDN Phone List".

Click the trackwheel.

Click "Disable FDN Mode".

Picture Messaging

If your sympton is:

You see a red X with unknown error on your BlackBerry smartphone when sending picture attachments in an email message.
The service books for the email integration are corrupt
To resolve this issue, delete and resend the service books from the BlackBerry® Internet Service or BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.

Picture messaging allows the user to send and receive photos to and from their contacts.
Important: The Instant Messenger recipient must be online to send the picture.
To send pictures from your BlackBerry smartphone camera using <Instant Messenger>, complete the following steps:
  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, preview a picture.
  2. Display the menu and select the Instant Messenger you want to use to send the picture.
  3. Complete the onscreen instructions.
To send a picture from within an Instant Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones application session, complete the following steps:
  1. Within the Instant Messenger session, display the menu and select Send Media. The Which Type dialog appears.
  2. Click Picture. The Pictures folder opens.
  3. Select the picture you want to send. A request is sent to the recipient indicating you sent a file and an option to Accept or Decline the file.
    • If the recipient clicks Accept, the Save File dialog opens. The recipient saves the file on the BlackBerry smartphone.
    • If the recipient clicks Decline, The sender receives a message indication the file transfer was declined.

The BlackBerry smartphone user is unable to send a picture as an email message from the Media application of the BlackBerry smartphone. The Send option is not present on the menu when the email message is sent using an email account that is associated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Although the current BlackBerry Internet Service supports large attachments or attachments that are in their native format, BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 does not.
A BlackBerry smartphone that is provisioned with the current BlackBerry Internet Service uses it as the default method for sending pictures from the camera. As a result, when attempting to send a picture attachment from an email account that is associated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the Send option will be missing from the menu as the image is in native format and size.

Upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to software version 4.1 Service Pack 2 or later, since support for large attachments or attachments that are in their native format has been introduced in that version.

Follow the steps below to send the picture attachment from the Messages application on the BlackBerry smartphone:
  1. Select Messages on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Press the Menu key.
  3. Select the Compose Email option from the menu.
  4. In the To field, enter the contact address where the email message is to be sent.
  5. Press the Menu key again.
  6. Select the Attach File option from the menu.
  7. Browse to and select the picture to be attached to the email message.
  8. Send the email message.
