Question about Foxconn VGA FOXCONN 8500GT-512 R PCI Express Graphic Card

1 Answer

Needing to know what graphics cards I can get with my motherboard

I'm attempting to get a graphics card to play modern games, CoD4, etc. I have a Foxconn 633 m02 motherboard, that's what it said directly on the motherboard. So I'm wondering if it would support like a XFX GeForce 8800 GT Video Card.

Would that be the highest it supports?

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7800.... So that 512 would work fine for my motherboard? So it supports PCI express?

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

    thankssssssss.

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

Confusing though, they seem more expensive than the 8800, etc.. Unless I'm looking at different ones...

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

So a XFX GeForce 9800 GT Video Card wouldn't work?

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

Um, may I ask how you know this? I don't really have any information on the motherboard.

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

    I don't see mine there. :S

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

Okay, this might sound stupid after all this, but. Does it have PCI Express?

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

Should work in, meaning the 7800 should work in it? Or I should work on it to increase performance?

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

Why is it limited to that low of graphics card then?

  • xDrewx Jan 03, 2009

Would that graphics card still work for most games out there?

yes from what I can see about your motherboard that is the highest it supports

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

    yes that should work

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

no anything above 7800 will not work I'm not sure why they are more expensive either.

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

I looked up the motherboards specifications and manual from foxconn they are listed at this website http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Mo...

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

the 600 series uses the same socket, socket 478 so anything this

    http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Mo...

    should work on your motherboard

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

yes it does have PCI express if not I would suggest getting an AGP graphics card as they are better, last longer, and 90% of all motherboards has an AGP slot its near the PCI slots a little bit further back on the board and usually brown in color.

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

it may be the processor that can not handle it, it may be that the motherboard just does not support than new of a card. Most PCI graphics cards run off video memory from then card then some ram to add to the video memory AGP does not.

  • machadojr_fe Jan 03, 2009

yes that card will work for most games an example would be the game the witcher I believe it is the recommended card.

Im playing a game called call of duty modern warfare 2 but it says video card or driver doesnt support ubyte4n vertex data.so what should i do?

Hi choongjieyi,
To be sure I would need to know what your system is but the problem is most likely that your computer has integrated graphics (this means its built right onto the motherboard rather than actually having a graphics card that plugs into the motherboard). Integrated graphics are not able to run games as graphic intensive as the call of duty games. The only other problem it would be is if computer has a very old graphics card that simply does not support that.

The solution depends on your computer. If your computer is using integrated graphics BUT it has a PCI-E slot then you simply need to buy a graphics card and install it. Some budget computers will not have a PCI-E slot and if this is the case you would need to buy a new computer. If your computer does have a PCI slot (this is the earlier version of the PCI-E slot) you MIGHT be able to get away with buying an old PCI graphics card to play the game but you would most likely run into serious performance issues as that game is very demanding and requires modern shaders.

Compatability

You have an AGP expansion slot for a graphics card.
(Accelerated Graphics Port)
It uses either 1x, 2X, or 4X graphics cards. Since the only AGP graphics cards out there are 4X or 8X, the 1X, and 2X are moot points. (They were also Junk anyway!)

Your AGP graphics slot only supports AGP graphics cards that are 1.5 volts. There are AGP graphics cards out there, that are Universal. Universal in that they will run as AGP 8X, (.8 volts), or AGP 4X, (1.5 volts)

This is an example:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4103516&CatId=318

Don't expect to play the high end new intense games with this. I'm afraid you'll have to update your motherboard, processor, ram memory, and a better graphics card to do that.

(Example? XFX Nvidia nForce 680i LT SLI motherboard, Intel Core2 Duo E8200 cpu, Corsair XMS2 PC6400 ram memory, 1GB x2 of them, (DDR2 at 800MHz), and XFX Geforce 9800GTX+, vid card. (Plus OCZ SteathXStream 600W power supply)
This won't break the bank, and will slam some games to the wall!)

I have intel graphics card of 128 mb. i wanna play prince of persia warrior within and other latest games but these games not support intel video card. please help me how to play such games on my pc.

dear friend

first of all, intel graphics are not graphic cards, they are on board graphics

new game require extra graphic card put on vga slot or newer ones on pci express slot

they support T&L, Cine FX, Pixel shader etc for modern game

just buy a separate graphic card and put in your m/b

and enjoy new games

thanks

Can i put a graphics card for my intel D915GVWB mother board?

You can not use PCI-EXPRESS graphics cards. Only AGP 2/4X Graphics Cards Supported ( 1.5V Only) You should look for This kind of Graphics cards.

I recommend , You must try changing your Motherboard with processor and buy a graphics card ( powerful one) to play these games. Otherwise You wont enjoy any of those games you mentioned.

n.b : a common PCI-E card has 16x speed where you cannot use more than 4x on your system.

UPGRADE GRAPHICS CARD

Hey,

From the looks of your system, Its a pentium D 915 CPU, with integrated graphics.
From the spec sheets, you should be able to upgrade to even an 8800 series, although that would require you to purchase a higher wattage power supply.
My recommendation is:
if you want graphics grunt for later model games, (i.e shooters like CoD4) the card you need (without needing a new PSU) would be the 8600gt. This is an excellent card and does not require external power.
If you want a cost-effective option, go with the 8500gt or an ati (amd) something equivalent. They arent the fastest cards out, but they will do a better job than the integrated graphics.

Hope that helps,
Sincerely,
