Samsung labtop cursor jumps around when typing causing all kinds of problems including highlighting and erasing entire lines or sentences!

Press Fn & F10. This disables the touchpad. You will have to use arrows or a mouse to move the cursor. This helps when you are doing a lot of typing. Press the same keys to enable the touchpad when you are finished typing.

Jumping Cursor

Are you using the touchpad or an external mouse?
Douse it jump around while typing or when you move the cursor?
If you are using the keyboard. try turning it over and tapping it LIGHTLY against your hand or something soft. There may be some dust or stuff between the keys.

Hi,
I believe I can help in what you are experiencing with your jumping cursor concern. you mentioned that you downloaded a driver, try downloading touch freeze, google it it will give you links where to download it and it is free, this should fix your jumping cursor issue

any of the links will lead you to the downloads page for the application.
once downloaded this is what you should see on your task bar, see image below. an icon of a touchpad with a check mark on it.

When i type in my MS word or replying mail using outlook, my cursor jumps to somewhere, actually it just happened several times when i type this message

On your touch pad exists a place that works like a scroller on the mouse (Usually the right part of pad with white lining). When you rest your wrists in this area, the cursor usually jumps in another place. I'm of course hoping that this is the problem and that your touch pad works fine. Try it and please tell me if this fails..

i had came across this type of problem...like cursor jumps...something opens automatically in the background and other nasty things. I think the problem is most probably a virus or a trojan.... try to do a full system scan with a good antivirus like kaspersky Antivirus 9.0.....Antivir ....
This could solve your problem

Jumping cursor when typing

Since you have a logitech mouse, lets just disable the touchpad. You should be able to disable the touchpad via one of these methods:
  1. Look on the top row of keys. You should have one that looks like a little mouse. If you do, hold down the "fn" key in the bottom, and press the key with the mouse on it. That *should* disable the touchpad.
  2. Go to the control panel, and find the keyboard and mouse settings. Digging through the menus, you should find a touchpad. You can disable it through there.

Jumping cursor

sounds like its a optical mouse, and you are probably using it on a reflective surface ie plastic mousemat, glass or along that lines, you will probaby find out it works fine on wood, or a a solid surface that aint reflective or a gel mouse mat.. :-) all the best John
