Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Eject Button? Hi all. I'm having a problem trying to insert a Compact Flash card. Monitor says that no card is present. I've tried three different cards and the problem appeared to be with the card release button. After trying various cards, the button will no-longer lock in to the "in" position. I just received this camera back from Nikon for the the CCD problem which they took care of on a very timely basis. If anyone here has had this problem please chime in, as this is killing me. Thanks, Ken

I accidentally dropped my samsung S1070 while I was taking a photo, and the lens is now stuck out. It won't turn on, and we've tried replacing the batteries and taking them out. I've also tried...

Hi,

Check whether your batteries are actually making contact with the battery posts, and that these posts are clean. If not, bend the posts up/down a little, and maybe clean them with a little rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip.The next thing to try is examine both the battery and flash card door. There's usually a little switch on both doors (note some SD card doors do not have this switch) that activates when the doors are closed. If they don't, the camera won't start to prevent damage to the flash card or camera startup sequence. For most cameras its usually a little piece of plastic on the door that pushes in on a pin switch when the door is closed. Closely examine both doors to try to identify these switches. A lot of times that little plastic nib wears down or breaks off, but can easily be jury rigged with a small glued-on replacement.
If you've tried all of the above and still no luck, the problem is then likely to be internal to the camera. One example would be that if your camera uses Compact Flash, check to make sure all pins are present and aligned in the card slot (if bent, simply unbend/straighten them with a skinny "jewelers" screwdriver, then insert the flash card for final realignment).

Thank you!

WIll not read the compact flash card after update of Internet Explorer. It displays a box saying to insert a disk in the drive and the flash card is inserted.

Please try the following: 1. Check if the LED indicator in your Card Reader is blinking. 2. Unplug the flash card and put in back again. 3. Check if the PC can detect your card. 4. If it can't detect it yet use other flash card and put it in the card reader. Check if it is working. If yes - you might need to buy another flash card. It might be defective. If not - check your card reader. If you have other card reader please try to repeat the process. 5. Update antivirus and run deep system scan. A malware or virus could be present in your system.
Thanks. Let me know if you need further assistance.

I have a Canon EOS 350D, Compact Flash card freezes my computer

Instead of connecting via the camera, just use a USB card reader and put the CF card in that.

Digital stills

The panasonic PV-L750 comes with an 8 MB Compact Flash card for storing digital still pictures.

To remove this flash card from the camcorder, open the cassette loading area using the "Tape Eject" button. The card is located inside this area. Find the "Card Eject" button to remove the flash card.

You will have to purchase a USB compact flash card READER to view and/or transfer the pictures to your PC's hard drive. You can purchase one at any computer supply store, or buy one online if you like.

Once you've transfered the images from the USB flash card reader to your PC, you can view and/or edit them with your favorite graphics image editing software.

Good luck!

"Disk is unreadable" message when inserting a CF Card - Macintosh OS 9.x

Certain system software is needed to allow a Macintosh (running Macintosh OS 9.x or earlier) to access mounted compact flash cards. If this required software is not installed the computer will not be able to recognize the card and will display the following error: DO NOT press the "Initialize" button, as this will completely erase the card and destroy all images. Click the "Eject" button and then enable the necessary system software. The following Extensions or Control Panels need to be activated: File Exchange - Control Panel Foreign File Access - Extension The "Extensions Manager" Control Panel (found under the "Apple" menu) can be used to enable these items. After switching them "On" restart the computer to apply the changes. After restarting the computer insert the card and it will mount on the desktop like any removable disk.
