The CHECK FILTER light will appear between every cycle, simply as a reminder to clear the lint filter before starting a new load. If the unit runs properly, then this is no cause for concern. If it will not start, then the unit may require service.

Won't heat up

Try removing the lint filter from the dryer and with no clothes, start the the dryer, and if it works then replace your lint filter.
Tip: Fabric softener sheets in the dryer can deposit an invisible coating on the screen of the filter and reduce air flow.

Dryer keeps stopping - check filter light on

For Sgt 48 - You are not reading the original message very well - The original help question didn't say they saw check filter at the beginning or end of a dry cycle they indicated that the dryer STOPS MID DRY and says check filter - this is not a friendly reminder, it is indicating something is wrong and the filter needs to be completely cleaned out (and past the filter down in the interior of the dryer) and if that does not work then you need to also check the dryer hose for kinks, lint build up, etc. Lastly, reset the dryer by unplugging it (or flipping the breaker) for a minute or so and hold down on the start/pause button for 8 seconds while it is unplugged (this will reset the error code for check filter, among other things).

LG Gas Stacking Dryer

The check filter light comes on every load to remind you to clean the lint filter. Cooling only happens when that light is flashing not when it's on solid. If this is a gas dryer check the exhaust hose and vent on the outside of the house. If it is blocked it will not let the unit get to the correct temp due to cycling.
