Question about LG RHT397H DVD Recorder
I go no replies to why my dvd drive tray just keeps going in and out when it powers up and wont read any discs. So looking at spares I want to know if the part LG DVD Deck Assembly 5045-1786-0786-1 (54 pounds) contains the whole DVD unit including the laser mechanism/transporter or does that have to be bought separately under item 5045-1763-2802-7 DVD mechanism (32pounds). Sales reps dont seem to know and I don't want to purchase both items and then have to return the DVD mechanism because its contained with the deck assembly.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I have had the same problem a few times. All I do is eject and re-insert the disk until it recognises it, this seemed to work for me

To unlock the region limitation of your machine:
(all the following is done on the remote)
Go to the Easy Setup Menu
Go to <Setup>
"Hover" the cursor block over the Lock symbol (don't enter yet)
Enter 0000 on the remote
A Congratulations message comes up.

SOURCE: MODEL LG RC299 NOT
I also have this annoying problem - but I bought mine new on ebay and have zero after-sales support. I have tried all the hacks I cna find over the last 12 months and when I am finished, the messages all say 'congratulations, you're now region free'. But even the local DVDs don't work. Disc ejects itself with irritating message 'unknown disc'. Does anyone have this problem who has a SALES RECEIPT from an authorised LG dealer? If so, can you jump up and down with LG until they offer a solution? Thanks!

Most likely the tension band that is attached to the mechanical parts of motor and the tray detached. you'll need to disconnect the power and unscrew the cover open and put the band back in place.
