Dear Joanne Blai,
You are having problems with Microsoft update problems. You have to disable Microsoft Windows update. To do So, you have to go to :- Control Pannel > Windows update > Never Check for Updates.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: bootmgr is compressed !

Assuming that this is an NTFS drive, you can try starting in safe mode with a DOS prompt. Then use the dos utility to uncompress the target drive.

Another way that is probably more appropriate is to slave the drive into a working PC. This way you can see what is on the drive and copy it to the working PC before you have to FDISK the drive and reinstall the OS (Operating System).

SOURCE: I have a HP 7600 with xp, I restored using xp disc to fix 1 problem then when it reboots it continually goes into safe mode then I get, restore cant restore in safe mode press ok to restart. Can some

Let the machine boot up into safe mode. You'll get a screen that will ask you if you want to go into system restore. Choose YES and it will come up with a calendar of different restore points. Choose a date point where you know the computer was working and then let it restore.
If this doesn't fix the issue then windows is corrupted and you'll need backup your data and reinstall windows completely.

Mode safe start windows

Hi,
In this case it would be best to perform a system restore.
There are two ways to perform system restore:
Open start menu click run and then type cmd to open command prompt.
Type CD.. to make c:\ only.
Type CD windows then CD System32 and then restore.
After once you find yourself in c:\ windows\system32\restore>
Then type restrui.exe press enter.
Once the system restore window open then click next to select any available restore point.
This process shall take couple of minutes to perform restore and please make sure that once this process started it wont be reversible and neither you will lose any personal data.
Other way to perform system restore is to open safe mode by clicking F8 on start-up and check safe mode option then further a dialogue box will open to ask for system restore and then follow the above steps. Thanks

Acer veriton M460 does not boot to desktop. It boots to windows xp and suddenly brings a flash of yellow light then it stops displaying anything on the screen but d syystem remains on without displaying...

There are a couple of quick fixes you can do.

First, boot into Safe Mode (Repeatedly tap the F8 key while the system is booting, before the windows logo appears) A Menu will pop up, press Boot Into Safe Mode. From there you can try a System Restore to a known good date.

System Restore - Click Start -> Control Panel -> On the top right, type "System Restore" without the quotes. Click on "Restore system files and settings from a restore point". You can choose the recommended restore or a specific date.

The other option is to boot into "Last Known Good Configuration". To do this, use the F8 trick again while booting, but instead of Safe Mode choose "Last Known Good Configuration".

Please note that either of these run a risk of some data being lost from the time the restore point was made. You "shouldn't" lose anything but just want to make you aware.

If this helps, please give a positive rating.

In stage 3 of the system updates it wont load the last stage and keeps re starting itself

We are not really sure if the Windows got corrupted or it might be the Hard Drive.
Please do this first.
Turn off computer.
Remove all power sources.
Hold down the power button for 20 seconds.
Use ac adapter alone.
Do this while the computer is off.
Hold down Fn then press power button to run PSA.
Wait and follow the prompts on the screen.
If all test passed then do these.
Boot up to F8 then select last known good configuration.
If no fix then boot back to F8 again then do safe mode then in safe mode try system restore from the time it was working fine.
If all fails you need to do factory restore.
F8 then select repair computer.
Follow the prompts select Dell Factory Image Restore.
Make sure all files been back up using an enclosure connecting to a different computer.

How to open in safe mode

Turn on the PC - as soon as the BIOS screen dissapears keep tapping
F8 - this will bring up the boot menu and let you select "safe mode".
If you get to the Loading XP screen with the moving bar you pressed F8 too late, reset and try again.

Startup logo appears then it goes to a black screen and blinks

You should try booting into safe mode. Press the F8 key before the windows logo and choose safe mode without network support. If windows loads run a checkdisk by right clicking on the c drive, left click on properties and then select the tools tab. From there you can run a disk test to check for errors. If you get that far then reboot and see if it starts normally. If not try F8 again and try selecting restore the last known working condition. This will restore your settings from the last time it worked. If you can’t get to the F8 screen get back with me and I will try a few more drastic solutions. Good Luck

My operating system wont load all the way

When you start up your computer press F8 before the computer gets pass bios. What I do is after my Samsung screen is about to start I keep pressing F8, every computer goes through it's own screen before harddrive starts up. This will force the computer to boot sequence where you can try and either Load the last Good known startup or to safe mode. If the first doesn't work, try safe mode and if that works restore computer to earlier time by clicking on start and then all programs, accessories, system tools and system restore. Follow prompts and hope for the best!! If all else fails, you will need a recovery disk or a full working bootable version of your current windows to restore you computer to original self!
