On a 60 FT. run using 12/2/G wire can I use a 25amp. breaker safely?

The size of the breaker that you are going to use on a circuit is predicated on the current draw of the appliance(s) you have on the circuit. Assume you have them all turned on, add up their respective amperages and , voila, you have a close approximation of the size of the breaker. If you do not know the amperage look for watts info. Divide the latter by voltage of 115 and you will arrive at the amps used.

When checking outside light the timer is going to, the multimeter reads 120v but the lights will not turn on. There are also outside outlets on the same circuit and they are reading 105v but cannot run...

Turn off power between each action listed below.

Is dial rotating and keeping time on timer?
This will tell you if 120V is arriving and working at timer.
Cut ground wire and check circuit again.
This can narrow down ground fault problem.
Disconnect wires from timer and connect wires direct to outdoor lights.
This will tell you if timer is suspect.

List all things on same circuit breaker, and test each to find which are working.
Each electrical box is connected to next box and to next box back to circuit breaker.
Open each box and check for loose wires, signs of burning.
This will narrow down location of problem.

When working in main breaker box, the wires on main breaker have power at all times, even when main breaker is turned off. This is true unless meter is pulled. Always stand on dry boards and never lean into or touch anything else when working in main box. Do not hold screwdriver between teeth.
Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away from voltage.
Test voltage at circuit breaker. Make sure neutral and ground are attached tight on busbar. Make sure black wire is attached tight to breaker. Move black wire to another same-size circuit breaker. Disconnect ground wire and test circuit again to check if ground fault is causing problem.

GE spacemaker Mod. JVM1650BH05 Ser 903737B Does not heat up anything. It goes through the motion like its working but no heat......

From your description and since everything else is working except heating then you have the following:

Heating in the microwave is produced by the so called magnetron which either is faulty so you need to replace it or it does not arrive any electricity to it.

The electricity arriving to the magnetron is depends from the five components.

1. The ceramic fuse from the primary voltage before the transformer. Very frequent problem check and if needed replace.

2. The high voltage transformer which produce the 1500 Volts- not so frequent problem.

3. The Diode - check with continuity tester you should have polarity from one direction if both directions are open circuit the replace diode.

4. Safety thermostat trigger off if the magnetron is overheated -reset it if it s open circuit but also check if the ventilating fan is working if not replace.

5. Finally the capacitor check if it is open circuit if then replaced it. Take care since this the danger part that hold 1500 volts so either leave the microwave oven unplug for more than hour before touching it or if your familiar make a jumper with an isolated pliers or similar the poles of the capacitor before remove it since it can burn your hand and hurt for more than a week. So be extra careful with the capacitor.

So all five components are all in series and if one of them is faulty then the magnetron will not heat. If all are ok then replace magnetron.

We have here below the parts schematic which you can see all the above parts where they are and at the same time their codes and prices and even you can order nay part from the same side.

I have power to the receiver but i have no display any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Since there is power to the receiver, you will have to open the set and trace from the main pcb. see if the smps circuit ( main Power) gives the required voltages to the processor boards. You will have to use a multimeter for checking the +5 to the micro processor, the display voltages, the cord to the display, the display drive. only a though test on these units will you be able to arrive at the issue. If there is no response, you will need to replace the main board. hope this helps for a decision. Good day

Our horizon dsx gate system suddenly lost power, no display and key pad is not working. What can I check to possibly fix this?

First of all check circuit breaker supplying the gate to see it has not tripped.
Also check power is coming out of the circuit breaker in case it is faulty.
You now know if supply is being sent to gate transformer.
Check supply is arriving at gate with mains tester. if so check low voltage side with small multimeter.ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE COMPETENT WITH ELECTRICS.If all power is reaching the pcb (printed circuit board) then a call out will be needed as the fault may be in the board itself.
here is a link to a brochere that may help.

I bough a brand new Singer embroidery from America (I live in Australia). When it finally arrived I eagerly pluged it in using a regular plug adapter. It turned on for an instant and then quickly fizzled...

Unfortunately you need an 240AC to 110AC adapter for this kind of equipment (try **** Smith). A plug adapter does nothing to change voltage it just lets the plug fit the power point, this is ok for some smaller electronic devices that are built to automatically sense the voltage. There is usually a sticker in small print on the device that will tell you what voltages it will take. I can't tell you whether its been damaged, but by going by your description it doesn't sound good. You can try an AC to AC adapter but it may not work now. I'd ask the supplier for a replacement as they should have known that Aus is 240V.

Battery contacts can be improved with metal foils to pack out the chamber. Make sure all contacts are clean- use a pencil eraser for bottom the the chamber. Pack out top of batteries under the cover with foil- do not cross connect . When closed press the cover with your fingers.
