Trying to connect wirelessly to 2 wire. I get limited access icon

Hi groveland1,

I see that you are having issue with your Internet Connection, Limited or no connectivity is a possible issue with your network key / security key on the router and your laptop.

1. Try and check the network key in your router.

2. Check your network settings in the Laptop and see if the security settings in your Laptop is the same as the security/network key in your Router.

3. If possible recreate your wireless connection in windows for a fresh connection from your Laptop to your Router.

4. Change your Network Key in the Router and in your Laptop see if it will connect in-case you may have forgotten you old Network Key.

Hope this helps.

Use the network setup wizard to connect to your network, and the internet. Unless you did this already.
You can get the wizard from Control Panel, Network ... , Connect to a Network. If wired you won't need key, it's for wireless only.

Yo did not say what OS, so info is a little generic.
Hope this helps.

Hi just installed router on my laptop, works fine but my desktop can't find it,why

Is your desktop wired or wireless.
If it wired then check the wired connection and make sure that you have proper light on the router. Suppose your computer is connected to the port 2 on the router, then you have port 2 light on the router.
If your computer is wireless then try to search for the wireless network and check if you can see the wireless network.
If you have windows XP, then try to use windows XP utility to connect to the network.
Fort windows Vista and 7 , you will find icon in the bottom right hand corner. Use that icon to connect to the network.

I have di-524 d-link wireless router, my router not giving me wireless connections

If you connect the computer to the router with the cable , does it work?
If yes then the wired connection is working.

What is the Operating system on the laptop or the wireless computer ?

If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

My laptop finds wireless router but will not connect to internet

Hi there. You may need to connect to the wireless network manually. What is the operating system running on your computer? If XP, you may follow these. (This is also applicable in other operating system, it may just vary a little) Right click the monitor icon showing on the system tray near the clock. Point the mouse in the icon and it will display the name if it is wireless network connection or network connection. Right click the icon and look for view available wireless network. If it is not showing, look for network connection. Right click and select "open network connection". Right click wireless network connection and select "view available wireless network" . Look for the wireless network you're trying to access or have connection.Highlight and click connect. If encrypted, you need to supply the pass key or security key twice and hit connect. It should allow you now to go online wirelessly. Please remember these, you should be able to go online wired. Make sure that there are other wireless computer connected to the wireless network you're connecting with and can go online wirelessly.

Hope this help :)

Wired internet working through netgear... wireless access denied

You must determine the wireless security of your router;

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".
a. Click on the Wireless Settings under Setup.
b. take note of the SSID
c. if your using WEP...the network key would be on the key 1.
d. If WPA-PSK TKIP is in use just type in a new key with a minimum of 8 characters on the passphrase box. Please remember it.

No wired connection

Firstly dissable your wireless adapter, as the router will try to allocate the same ip address to your pc twice, and this is not allowed. You need to check that the wired network card is set to obtain an ip address automatically, go to control panel>network connections right click on the network card icon>properties in the TCP/IP click properties again. restart pc, type 192.168.0.1 in your web browser and you should be able to get into the routers settings.
