Oven will not stay lit

I have no trouble lighting the oven, however, sometimes in the midst of baking I will look in on things and find the the oven is not on...the flame as gone out. What causes this and how can I correct it?

Does this oven have a pilot light? Do you have to light it each time you use it or just if the pilot goes out?

My gas oven lights but wont stay lit. sometimes it will get up to around 250 degrees but it will not get hotter, other time it will not even stay on for more then a few seconds or minutes

Hello,

The problem with the oven is going to a weak igniter,it is strong enough currently to eventually allow the burner to come on but its not strong enough to keep the burner on. Sooner or later it will weaken even more so it will not let the gas flow at all,so by replacing it now with a fresh strong one it will let the oven come on faster and stay on througout the duration of the baking cycle

If your model number is the one listed in the question (RGB533CEHCC) the part number for the igniter is WB13K21 it could purchase it at your local appliance parts store or online at;

Pilot light stays lit but oven will not stay lit

I would be interested to know just how long it is that the oven does stay lit. All ovens, gas and electric, cycle off and on throughout a baking cycle, to maintain the proper temp. If the flames or the power to the element were to stay on at full power for the life of the food's required time in the oven it would most likely wind up charred. The temp would simply continue to rise, up and up and up. If that's what it appears to be doing, then it's just working normally. If it goes out completely and stays off, doesn't come back on in a few minutes, then it may be in a keep warm mode. Many ranges have a TIMED BAKE cycle available, so you can set the clock to start the oven at such and such a time, cook the food and then shut off. Once it's finished with the cooking cycle, it goes into a keep warm mode, where it will come on for a short time and then go off, to maintain about 180 degrees. Not hot enough to really cook anything anymore, but hot enough to keep it warm for you when you get ready to eat.
If this seems to be the way it's acting, then look for the timed bake function on the console and set things back to a manual mode.

Our burners light but when you turn the oven on you can smell gas. Can you tell me what is wrong

most of these will have the oven bake ignitor become weak and not ignite the gas when turned on.
you should see the bake ignitor try to glow orange but the gas will not lit to the burner.
without a digital meter to read the current, should be 3.2-3.5 amps then you wont know if the ignitor is weak.
you could try to just replace it and see if that fixes you trouble.

GE Profile gas range - Model Number removed by previous owners. Black slide in range with warming drawer - 5-10 years old. Digital oven controls on left side Broil and Bake functions are reversed. When...

Unplug the range.
I would open the control console and locate the BAKE/BROIL terminals on the Oven control. I would reverse the wires, plug the range in and try again.
Sounds to me like someone has changed out a part and wired it wrong.

My indersitt cooker wont stay lit once i have lit the oven with a lighter what do i need to do plz

When the bake igniter becomes weak or burns out, your oven will not bake. The bake igniter is usually mounted on the oven burner. It's about 1 inch by 4-8 inches (depending on the model), and comes in round or flat styles. If you don't see the igniter glow at all, it's probably burned out. Replace the igniter if found defective. Note: one of the exceptions could be that your oven is set to automatic mode instead of manual. If this is the case, set your oven to manual mode and check again.

If the bake igniter glows red and not bright yellow or white, it is probably because it is too weak. When this happens, the safety valve will not let the gas out into the oven burner. A weak igniter must be replaced.

A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

-- defective thermostat(located inside the top section of the unit)
-- defective selector switch(mounted on the front control, or part of the touch pad assembly)
-- defective gas safety valve(mounted on the valve assembly)
-- defective gas valve coils(mounted on the valve assembly)

My magic chef kitchen range oven won't turn on, no gas

Some of the models require you to push in the oven thermostat knob to set the pilot if it blows out. So try pushing in the knob and hold it while lighting the pilot. When the pilot lights continue to hold the knob in for about a minute. When you let go of the knob the pilot should stay lit. If it does not stay lit then try it one more time. If it continues to go out the thermocouple or aso might be bad and will need service.
