Go to Device Manager. Find your CD in the list of hardware, then right-click on it and first do install driver then do install new driver. Reboot and it will work again.

My dell studio keeps rejecting all cd's

sometimes dust particals tend to settle in to the drive and mild oxidation occurs try a non-abrasive disk drive cleaner then put in a blank cd and try to write over the disk.
If this fails you might need a new dirve.

My computer will not recognize my cd/dvd drive, there are no optical drives listed in device manager

In the optical drives or ATAPI drives section of Device Manager, try right clicking and choosing "scan for hardware changes." If the CD/DVD drive still doesn't show up, you might want to try opening the computer up and resetting the cables going to the drive (both the power and data cables).

The drive was working before, right?

Hi everyone, i had a problem on my laptop, i don't know how to access or backup my files because my OS was corrupt and there's no partition on my HDD and also i can't repair it using my XP Installer. Hope...

If the partition is gone then so are your files...unless you use a file recovery company. You will need someone to make you a bootable cd-rom disc using windows. Then using dos try to re-partition and format your dirve. If it is does not work then the hard disk may be faulty.

Media test failure; check cable

it seems like a hard drive failure or the hard dirve not seated well. I'm assuming this caz you cannot boot up. Try reseating the hard drive and try again, If still not working, try and listen for any clicking noise from the hard dirve.

Cd drive

sounds like the drive itself may be going bad. OUr company would be more then happy to take a look at. Cost typically for this type of problem is going to be less then $200 as you may need a replacement dirve.

Thanks
