When i put a DVD in to play...it shows that it is loading and then after a few seconds it shows the words Wrong Disc. What is wrong with the DVD player? does it need to be cleaned or something or has it...

it is the lens which is uable to read the disk so probably you could change the lens

Spend $40 and replace it with a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer.
Or, spend $40 on a qualified computer-technician's attempts to trouble-shoot -- he/she probably will come to the conclusion that it needs to be replaced, for another $40.

Some discs play in CD/DVD, some do not. One

Its none of the software related issue, try cleaning the lens, may be the lens is weakened

Can't read the disc !!

I replayced dvd cd-rom myself it's very simple repair and it cost me $20.00 for new dvd rom. Don't buy CD-RW but just simple black dvd-rom.
I hope this will get you going again.

need more info for help you but one question do you have a program for dvds? if not download "power dvd" from internet and may be this is the problem there are a lot of site to download for free if you dont have a disc..try this one......

It sounds like you may only have a cd drive and not a dvd drive.

DVD/CD players use two different lasers. One to read DVD and one to read CD. Sounds like your DVD laser burned out. Lasers last about as long as light bulbs do.

No, there would not be a driver problem. It is a bad disc drive. I recommend taking it to your local repair shop and have them swap out the drive. I am a laptop technician, and it should not take more than 5 minutes, and should not cost more then $69 + tax. if you are feeling like a tech, you can buy a drive off ebay, you will have to look to see if it SATA or IDE, then the hight of the drive, 12mm or 9.5mm. just look for one with a flat face and you should be able to remove the face and swap them and move the mount or tray and everything would be working again.
