Desktop or Laptop computer ?

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will help disperse the heat

Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto the CPU.

Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink.

hope this helps

* Make sure the laptop is using the AC adapter
* Turn on or restart the computer

My acer aspire 3000 turns off suddenly when am watching videos and also when am installing office.

Turn off( shut down or restart automatically)?

It maybe cause from overheating from your graphic memory device/harddware or problem with your processor.

Are you have using fan or anyelse to cooldown your laptop during you using it?
Try something, using any fan that can cold and maintain temperature for your laptop to avoid it from overheating. Overheating is not good. It will cause your motherboard problem or screen monitor problem.

Computer begins to start up and then turns off after windows xp is displayed. Reformatted drive installed windows 2000, same thing happens

Hi,

The issue that you experience might be problem of your power supply please change the location or check the power supply of computer. If you shut down your Windows XP-based computer, your computer may restart instead of shutting down. The computer may also restart unexpectedly while you are using the computer to perform certain tasks. An error message may appear on a blue screen when the computer restarts.

For more information, please click the link below;

Moreover, check the motherboard, CMOS battery or SMPS, as that might be one of the reason. Any of such device not functioning properly may cause computer restarts automatically.

My pc turns off itself

Check your cpu heatsink/fan. This sounds like an overheating problem as the cpu has a sensor that will automatically shut down your system to prevent it from frying. Hope this helps.

Gateway 7410 laptop keeps on turning off after complete boot. The cpu fan speeds up and after a few seconds the laptop turns off

Could very well be that it is getting hot. If the cooling system is plugged, there is no air movement, and this would make the fan speed up as the temp rises. Shut the laptop down, unplug from a/c adaptor, remove battery, and try blowing the cooling system out from the outlet to the fan with a can of air. You might want to stick a paperclip or the like in to stop the fan from spinning.

DO NOT USE AN AIR COMPRESSOR AS THAT AIR IS MOIST.

Pc restarts automatically and unexpectedly

Good Evening Sunnyseber :

Hope that you are wellJ
You did not indicate the type of Operating System.
This document pertains to HP and Compaq computers with Windows Vista. If Windows Vista suddenly starts without warning, or restarts when you try to shut it down, it may be because your operating system is set to automatically restart when certain system errors occur. This feature of the Windows Vista operating system can be disabled. Use the information below to disable the Automatically Restart option. NOTE: In addition to the steps in this article, updating video card drivers is known to resolve many of the problems that can cause the computer to restart. Step 1: Disabling Automatically restart option to view error messages You can prevent the computer from restarting by turning off the Automatically Restart option:
  1. Click Start c00971562.gif .
  2. Right-click Computer , and click Properties
  3. Click Advanced system settings .
  4. Click the Advanced tab and select Settings in the Startup and Recovery section.
  5. Remove the check mark next to Automatically restart under System Failure .
  6. Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery window and click OK , again, and then close the System Properties window.
  7. Restart the computer. NOTE: The computer will no longer restart automatically when a problem occurs. Instead a blue screen appears with more useful information. You can now search for a resolution using the text from the error.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

And, remember, always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.

Have a wonderful evening.
