SOURCE: power acoustik 5 farad neon digital capacitor

You hook it up in parallel with your amp. You'll see a and - on the clear plastic cover.
Hook a wire from your amp or positive to the capacitor
Hook another wire from your amp - or negative to the - on the capacitor.

That's it, you're done.

If the plastic cover is missing, or painted over, with the neon tubes at the top, and the connector/display end facing you, the right side is the left side is -.

Having trouble under standing rms with speakers. Some speakers rms is per speaker and other are for both speakers.I am looking for soundstream speakers that would be 150 rms per speaker. Thanks

rms is a method of measuring power (wattage) delivered from an amp to a speaker. In almost every case, wattage capacity of speakers is quoted PER SPEAKER. Likewise wattage output is quoted per amp output channel. Assuming a you plan on a single speaker on each output channel of your amp, you should be in good shape if your speaker wattage capacity equals or exceeds your amp's output rating. I've never seen speakers rated as wattage per pair.

(rms is the dominant way of measuring average watts of an ac sine wave signal)

My 1998 chevy dually has a 7.4 engine and it keep blowing out alternators

Best course: Install a LARGER CAPACITY aftermarket alternator. Also, if you have a car stereo system with a subwoofer, MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING AT LEAST A 2.5 FARAD CAPACITOR AT THE INPUT OF YOUR AUDIO AMPLIFIER. (Not using a capacitor with high-wattage sound systems can literally blow out alternators!)

Have two front ,two rear speakers, and two tens that i want to hook to my stereo. How do i do it and get the maximum sound?

If the Sony amp (I'm not familiar with that one) has its own crossover and subwoofer output, use that, and set your crossover point for what sounds best to you. Honestly, it is best to have a SEPARATE two-channel amplifier & crossover for the 10" subs. Whatever you do, make sure you use a large capacitor (2 Farad or more) at the power input of the amplifier for the subs. This will help prevent blown fuses. (It is also a good idea to use at least a 1 Farad capacitor at the power input of the amplifier for the other four speakers.)

I have a 2008 Nissan xterra. I'm running all 0 gauge wiring to my jl system. 250/1 amp, 2 10" wo3 . My lights dim a little so I ordered a soundstream scx2 2 farad cap. I did not realize it was 24vdc

The capacitor will do little to solve the light dimming issue. You are experiencing the problem because you are at or near the capacity of the alternator/battery power output when playing your system at high volumes. You can add the cap in if you want to, the voltage specification is a maximum voltage, so it should not be a problem. I still doubt that you will solve your light dimming problem with it though.

A temperature rating is not an electrical rating, and will not directly affect the electrical characteristics of the circuit. Higher temperature ratings only mean that the component will withstand higher temperatures. This can help provide stability to the electrical characteristics when the circuit is exposed to the higher temperature, and of course provide better longevity as a result.

Most electrical / electronic components that have values that can be changed usually can be changed to HIGHER values, nearly never a lower one. Capacitors may be substituted with others that have higher ratings in temperature, accuracy and voltage. Their unit of measure is the farad. In some very specific cases, even the farad rating can be increased. Inductors are similar to capacitors. Their unit of measure is the Henry. The Henry value, like the farad, should remain a constant. Like the farad, the Henry value as a rule however should not be deviated unless you know what you are doing. Resistors can have their wattage and accuracy values RAISED freely without fear of adversely changing the circuit. Increasing them usually provides better stability.

So, why not use components with these higher, more desirable values? Easy! Space and money. The higher wattage values require more space as they device is physically larger to dissipate the heat. Higher accuracy requires tighter controls on raw material grading and production processes.. all of this translates to more labor and higher costs. It doesn't make sense to buy an expensive 100v rated capacitor for use on a 5v circuit - when a 20v capacitor will be more than adequate - for a fraction of the cost.

I hope this helps and good luck! please rate my reply. thanks.

You usually don't need a capacitor because your car can keep up with the power requirements, especially since your system isnt too big (no offense). But if you wanted to get one, i would only get a 1/2 or 1 farad cap.

Cant figure out how to wire a power acoustik 5 farad power cap.

Use to independent grounds always better that way. Better full field for power and less distortion. I like to use 4 guage or lower like 0 guage for high powered systems. Good luck, thanks for using FIX YA
