How to set a Kes load control timer model ISG1201

The Geyser Load Control Timer, ISG1201, is designed to prevent geyser from operating during the Eskom's designated weekly morning and evening peak times. The ISG1201 features 4 easily selectable, pre-programmed, geysers "ON" operating profiles to ensure maximum comfort whilst not burdening the user with the complicated process of having to program the unit.
The profiles are as follows;
  • Program (1) is always "ON"
  • Program (2) "ON" after sunset to accommodate solar geysers
  • Program (3) "OFF" all the time
  • Program (4) savings program - "ON" 6 hours weekdays and 12 hours weekend days

Geyser timer stopped working

Check circuit breaker.
Click fully off and then back on.
Check for burned smell at breaker or loose crackling sound that says breaker is bad.

Reset timer. Then Reprogram.
Possible geyser timer manual
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Digital-Geyser-Timer 24H-7-Day-Timer-230V Brochure.pdf

This timer has a non-replaceable internal rechargeable battery.
If battery has gone bad, then timer is defunct.

Use manual override button to turn timer ON-OFF.
Then test across terminals 3 and 4 for 240Volts.
Turn timer OFF, and test across terminals 4 and 5 for 240Volts
If no voltage shows then timer does not have output.

If test shows 80% undervoltage, that can cause load not to activate, depending on type of load.
Have electrician check for voltage issues at power company transformer.

Unknown what load timer is connected to.
Max load for this timer at 240 volts is 3680 watts, 16 amps.
Motor load is 230 volt 8 amps.
Check label on load for watt or amp rating.
Volts x amps = watts
Watts divided by volts = amps

I need a diagram of magnetic contactors with timers

10-19-12
Each timer has a contactor.
Timers can also control a contactor.
Which timer do you have?

Here are contactors, with some illustrations showing tiimers controlling contactor:

Here are example timers controlling a 3-pole contactor for 3-phase application:

I am a Home Inspector. How do I override the timer controls to produce heat at the ETS units so my clients can see that they work. I put the timer lever in the manual position however after 30 minutes no...

You posted under ET70415CR. This is a complicated timer with many wiring and programming capabilities.
Open following links for ET70000 series image and ET70414CR instructions:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/ET70115C-copy.jpg
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Intermatic-et70415cr.pdf

Among the features, this timer can be programmed for pulse or momentary action to control external latching contactors:
Page 36 of instruction says:
Note: Using the manual On/Off keys to switch this type of contactor On or Off may not provide the expected result and may cause damage to the contactor coil. For this application external Momentary Pushbutton may be added for both circuits or the circuits may be programmed for override pulses.
So instruction is saying that additional wiring is needed to override specific types of circuits.

The timer has 8 internal contactors, and each can be controlled separately by the timer to control 8 different electric circuits. This is called 8-channel timer since all eight timing contactors can be programmed separately.
Each contactor is wired separately to control any type of electrical appliance including 440V lights, and 24V alarm system, and 240V heat, etc.
For example contactor1 might be for lights, and contactor2 for controlling a latching contactor, and contactor3 for controlling a boiler, contactor4 etc...

To override the system, you have to identify which contactor controls the system in question.
Then there are 2 options:
1) Reprogram the timer on that channel
2) change the wiring temporarily: Each of the 8 contactors has 3 screw terminals: COM, NO, NC. If there are wires on all 3 NO NC COM terminals, you have to reprogram timer. If there is a wire on NC terminal -or- NO terminal, typically you would move that wire to the COM terminal to by-pass timing operations.

Pool pump cannot be turned off with timer switch. Pump runs constantly. I can turn off with breaker switch but not with switch on timer.

You posted under Intermatic EI200 series countdown timer.

Intermatic EI200 series is rated for 1/4 HP.
Check nameplate on motor for HP. Pool pump is probably 1 HP.
Open following link for countdown timer ratings:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Countdown-timer-horsepower-ratings.html
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/in-wall%20timers/electronic%20auto-off%20timers.aspx

Add a comment and say what kind of timer you are using and say specifically what you want timer to do, and I will locate correct timer for that specific need.

You can also add a contactor to the circuit.
Timer controls contactor, and contactor turns pump on-off.

Also take advantage of fixya expert assistance live.
For a price, expert works with you while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

How to install 25amp 3 pole relay

There should be 8 screws on the relay L1, L2, L3, T1, T2, T3 and two additional screws either at the top or bottom, or one on each side. The incomming, constant power in from the circuit breaker, should connect to L1, L2 & L3. The power out to the load should connect to T1, T2 & T3. The control wire from the switch or timer you will be using to close the contactor will connect to the remaining two screws. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS THAT THE CONTROL VOLTAGE MATCHES THE COIL VOLTAGE OF THE CONTACTOR. They will make 12vac, 12vdc, 24vac, 24vdc, 120v, 240v, 277v, etc. coils for the contactor.
Also keep in mind that when the contactor closes L1 & T1 make contact, L2 & T2, Etc.
