I can't remove the seat from an Invacare Pronto M91 VA chair with elevating seat.

I just bought a used Invacare Pronto SureStep M91 with Elevating Seat that is a VA chair. The batteries were ignored when the owner passed away. They also lost the owner's manual and I can NOT find out how to remove the seat so I can access the batteries and install new ones. How do I remove the van seat from this chair?

SOURCE: i have invacare pronto m51 with surestep the spjis

The 9 flash error code indicates a communications fault. The communication fault relates to the communication between the joystick and the control module. The joystick on the arm mount is connected to the control module in the base. When there is a break in the wiring of this wiring harness, also called a bus cable, a fault occurs. This trips the computer and the computer sends out a flash code to the joystick. Simply stated there is a broken or pinched wire between the joystick and controller. Look physically at the wire and check for cuts, breaks or pinches. The best short term repair is to repair the broken wire with solder and heat shrink or tape. You can also use **** splice connectors and tape. The best long term repair is to replace the harness with a part available from Invacare. The most definitive way to diagnose this problem is to read the fault log of the controller using a hand held programmer available to dealers and certified technicians. The number and type of fault codes logged in the controller is another indicator of which
component(s) has failed. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have an invacare Pronto M51 Surestep power chair

If you have had swing away footrests on this chair you can replace them with model PHW93 and must ask to get them in red when you order them from a wheelchair store. If you dont know where a store is that sells Invacare products, call Invacare customer service at 800-333-6900.

I have 1 green light and 3 red lights blinking, I've put new battery pack in and chair will not move. It's a Invacare pronto m91 surestep

OK, how exactly are the 'blinking'? Are the lights simply flashing with a short pause between each sequence or are they 'chasing' each other left to right repeatedly.
The style it is flashing is a code system to give the repairer an idea as to what the problem is. If they are just blinking, count how many times it flashes after each pause. This will give a clue as to what could be wrong.
Use the comment button below and I'll see what other help I can give.

Spj-80, model 1122190. Why doesn't it move?

you may have a current rollback problem you will need to charge the Chair for 14hrs. with the Joystick on! This will reset the circuit. Charge with the joystick on! It is okay it won't hurt a thing, in fact from now on always charge with the joystick on.

Pronto m91

You are getting a motor error code. Check motor wiring and connection to the main control box. Motor may have gotten unplugged when changing the batteries.

What does 7 times flashing mean is wrong on pronto m91

Hello,

Seven blinks is most often the joystick. A Invacare Remote Programmer can be plugged in to the joystick to verify this.

Help I stupidly got my dog lead caught around the left drive wheel of my M61 Pronto yesterday. A kind person got it unwound but needed to tip the chair on its side to do it. Now the far left single green...

The M61 has an elevating seat. There is a speed limit switch which consists of 2 magnets that make contact under the seat on the seat post. If the 2 magnets are together then the chair thinks the seat is all the way down. If the magnets aren't touching it activates a safety feature in the controls which cuts power to the chair by 50% hence drives real slow. Try lowering the elevating seat down through the joystick controls. If that doesn't fix it then either the magnet switches on the seat post came unplugged or broke.

One red light three green flash when turned on

Your chair has a motor problem. The code does not tell which side it is. Make sure both motors have the brakes in the drive position before turning on the chair. Also check that both motors are plugged into the main control module in the base of the chair.
