Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

Maytag washer MHWE300VW12 Started with 3 beeps then was able to display diags. In diags mode get F70 code, when I remove M13 from control unit either side I am able to start machine with water entering the drum. However shut off right away because I don't want the drum to fill and not sure it will drain. It does not start with M13 cable connected. Could it be that the motor control unit is bad ? Kindly advs thank you Robert S

Amana front load washer model num NFW7500VW00 CODE F70 WONT COME ON OR START

I have had a good look around and this seems to be a common problem with Maytag Amana etc machines.
Trying search Maytag f70 code and you will see.
It seems to be a faulty Control unit. Cause number 4 below seems to be what you have.

Here is one answer from a tech guy.

"The "F70" error code is indicating a loss of communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the user's interface board on the right hand side of the console. The main top can be taken off by removing the screws along the back edge of the top. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the top.
Possible Causes/Procedure:
1.Check for continuity of the user interface harness
2.Check the wire harness connections at the user interface board and the Central Control Unit.
3.If the unit will run and rotate before the "F70" displays usually indicates the user interface board will need to be replaced.
4.If the unit will not run and rotate usually indicates the Central Control Unit will need to be replaced.
if you feel you cant do this you will need a technician to come and look at this. "

How can I run diag on washer?

To place your wash machine into diag. mode..........

1. Press the (Delicates) + (Heavy Soil) buttons together at the same time for more than 3 seconds. Two zeros (00) should be dilsplayed in the display indicating that the washer is now in
(Service Mode). *Release both buttons when (00) appears.

2. Next press the (Presoak) button to put the washer into diagnostic mode.

3. Next press the down arrow button to retrieve the number code.

Note: There is a small paper that is tucked behind the control panel where it has all the wiring schematics, specifications and the code listings and the description of the number code. If your not comfortable to remove the panel to get to this paper, you can log on to (www.neptunehelp.com) and they should have a code reference chart for your application.

Had F70 &F71 changed ccu and ui won't power up just beeps

Even after they replacing the CCU and the MCU, I still kept getting the three beeps and the F70 Error... the fix was replacing the front controller boards (where the knobs and buttons are). check your connections also, and that they are in the proper slot.

Kenmore washer HE3T mod # 110.49972602. Unit had F70 error code. Unplugged and replugged. Now, no display on panels, power button beeps 3 times but nothing else.

Hi

F70 is a communication error between the central control unit and the user interface. First check the continuity of the user interface harness and then check the wire harness connections to the user interface and the central control unit. If the drum rotates then replace the user interface, if the drum is not moving then replace the central control unit (CCU). Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Getting code F70 on washer...what does this mean? It wont start wash cycle at all. Help!

Hi,

F70 error code indicates Central control unit heartbeat failure. If a Central Control Unit Heartbeat Failure is displayed, no communication is detected from the Central Control Unit to the User Interface.
1. Check for continuity of the User Interface harness.

2. Check wire harness connections to the User Interface and the Central Control Unit.

3. Replace User Interface if drum is rotating.

4. Replace Central Control Unit if drum is not moving

Thank you !!

The lights turn on and cycle through even though not running

Many folks have experienced this issue. I feel it could be an issue with the Control Board. But no one so far has taking the time to work this issue. If you want to try the first step is to see if the Control Board will let you go into Service Mode
Some handy links;
FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
Enter / Exit Service Mode
To enter Service Mode press the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys (simultaneously) for three seconds or until the control beeps and the LED display will read 00.

If you can get into Service Mode go to page 17 of the Service Manual Display Diagnostic Codes follow the steps to step thru diag code blocks. Recorded the diag codes that show up. Then let us know the results. If you had to use a DVM to measure +12VDC on the Control Board could you do that?

Multiple lights are lite when running a cycle....can't run certain cycles (bulky items, whites etc) spin light continuously blinks. have tried unplugging and restarting with no results

I feel you may have a Control Board issue. I would see if the Control Board will let you into Service Mode. If it does I would read the Diag code blocks 1 thru 40. The block only show up when an error event has been logged.

Bottom line I see no easy way out without least swapping out the Control Board for a start point.

You will need the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual to get started. See page 17 of the SM TO READ THE Diag codes

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

Here is a quick start if the Control Board will let you into Service Mode;
To enter Service Mode press and hold simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys until the machine beeps and the LED display reads 00.

From the Service Manual;

Display Diagnostic Codes
The diagnostic code display can be toggled on and off from Service Mode by pressing the Wrinkle Control key. The display will show a “d”. The diagnostic codes can be viewed by using the Set Delay Time arrow keys. The Set Delay Time down arrow key will cycle down the list one code at time each time it is pushed. The Set Delay Time up arrow key will cycle up the list one code each time it is pushed. The first time the Set Delay Time down arrow key is pushed, the newest code will be displayed. A code generated during or after the current cycle will be displayed with the rightmost dot “.” turned ON. Access Other Features While a diagnostic code is displayed, if the Normal

If you decide to give it a try jot down the code blocks and toss them back to us for review.

The washer stopped and error code f70 displayed. It would not reset. I unplugged it and now nothing happens but a beep beep when I attempt to turn on the power

The F70 and F71 error codes on this model of washer indicates a communication problem between the user interface control board and the central control unit (main control board). These error codes can sometimes be caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines. Try unplugging the washer to completely disconnect electrical power. Wait 1 minute and then plug the washer back in to the see if the fault code clears. If it does, then the washer may work normally.

If the code reappears, then you could have a wire harness connection problem, a failed user interface control board or a failed central control unit. I recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair this type of problem so that the correct component can be replaced.

Be sure your unit is plugged into a 3 prong grounded outlet as well.

F71 is a "heatbeat failure" which means that your front interface control board is shorted and will need to be replaced. it's actually fairly easy to replace and can definitely be done by yourself. To access the part, just pull the unit forward and remove the 3 screws coming in from the back of the top panel. Remove the top panel by pulling it back, up, and off. Then remove all the screws going into the top of the control panel. Remove the dispenser drawer and remove the screws coming in through the dispenser. Remove the screws coming from the inside of the dryer going forward into the control panel, then remove the control panel (it's just clipped in on the bottom. After that you can disconnect the wire harnesses to the front interface control board and replace that part.
