SOURCE: Video card Identification

First, you can go to your CONTROL PANEL via the start menu, then double click SYSTEM.  From there goto HARDWARE and click the DEVICE MANAGER button.  Once in DEVICE MANAGER, click the + symbol next to display adapters and you should see your video card.  It may not list the make and model, but you can then right click the video card (display adapter) and choose UPDATE DRIVER.  It's possible that Windows will automatically find the correct drivers, but I doubt it since it did not install them when installing Windows.
Here are some other solutions.
Goto http://www.lavalys.com/ and download Everest.  This utility should give you the make and model of the video card.
If not, then:
Goto http://www.g4tv.com/techtvvault/features/8466/Free_Download_of_the_Day_Belarc_Advisor.html and download Belarc Advisor which should also give you the make and model.
Hope this helps :)

How do i update my pixel shader for my computer to play games ?

Hi Gerry, if your HP's video card is capable of running the game, you can update the video driver. I would suggest trying the HP Driver Download Support website first. Here's the link: Drivers Downloads.

If your video card is not capable of running the game, you will want to look into a different video card.

Hope that helps you out! :)

Will be in the middle of a game and the computer will reboot. Windows7 tells me there was an error with your graphics display card there is an error code but I will be dropped if I know where I saved it...

This is either a corrupt driver or your video card has crashed. If you can boot to windows without any problems, then download the latest drivers. Use a software program such as driver sweeper to completely remove the corrupt driver. Reboot and install the new driver.
If you continute to get the crash when playing games it may be faulty memory on the video card. This can be especially likely if it has been running hot or overheating, and if you have it overclocked to unstable levels. If you have an old video card, you want to try that card out and see if you can replicate the problem.
If the old video card works fine, and the new one still does not work with fresh drivers you will probably have to bit the bullet and purchase a new one.

Crashes after playing a game for about 10 minutes

Hi samohtpfeffe, i've been having the exact same problem. reason why your video card crashes because its over heating, fan not spinning ? Did you try to remove old video driver and install latest driver ?

What Game are you playing ,at the moment? Because this video card is about over 4 years old, really can't handle newest games properly.

Good Luck!

New video card old motherboard

The new video-card should have come with a CD-ROM, containing the necessary device-driver software to support the device.

Or, from the manufacturer's web-site:

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp

download the device-driver for Windows XP Home/Professional, and install it.

Video Card

It is likely to be your old graphics drivers conflicting with the new card - Put the old card back in and be sure to remove them

1. Start
2. Right Click My Computer
3. Properties
4. Hardware Tab
5. Device Manager
6. Display Adapter
7. Uninstall

Turn your PC off and place the new card in then reboot

Install the new drivers after booting.
