Stihl chainsaws are 1:50 oil to gas ratio. Make sure you use good high-quality 2-stroke oil, preferably that which is made by Stihl.

My stihl ms390 chainsaw leaks bar oil, so i put a threaded plug in the hole, and when i get the plug far enough in, it impedes the oil flow to the bar.

Take the bar off and clean all the pieces and parts where the bar mates to the motor. Make sure the hole on the side of the bar, where the oil gets onto the chain drivers, is not plugged. Make sure there are no burrs, on the edge of the bar from chain wear, which will push the bar away from the chainsaw body leaving a gap for oil to leak. If your bar is worn, most bars can be flipped over and used either way. If it is made to be used in on either side it will have a hole for the oil to get into the bar on both sides. Alternating or flipping the bar will make it last a lot longer.
Something else to check is if your saw has a breather hole and if that is what is leaking or it is plugged and is not allowing the tank to breath. Not all saws have this feature.
When you store your saw it is best not to store it on its side with the bar hanging down as these position will cause more oil to leak.
Even if you have a perfect fit/seal, between saw and bar, oil will still leak if it is stored in a place with temperature fluctuations. This happens from the oil expands, when it warms up, creating pressure in the tank causing oil to leak out. I always put a piece of cloth on top of a plastic base to prevent seepage onto any surface. I run chainsaws professionally for over 35 years and they all will leak when stored in place with temperature changes. Some are worst than others. Hope this helped.

Where is the tank breather

The 350 tank breather is on the top r/h side of the fuel tank, if you look between the crankcase where the top hanle fixes you will see a white plug with a nipple on the top, this is the breather, you can pull it out with a pair of long nose pliers.

353 husqvarna saw bogs out and dies

The 353 is a very reliable saw and does not suffer with too many problems, i would start by replacing the fuel filter in the tank, then check the fuel hose up to the carb for signs of leaking and cracks, there is a short curled pipe which takes the impulse from the engine to the carb, you will see this just under the induction rubber connected to the cylinder, make sure this is still connected and not cracked, when it starts to die, try to slacken off the filler cap, if it picks up again then it is an issue with the tank breather, replace the breather, it is located on the right hand, top side of the fuel tank, it can be replaced without removing the fuel tank.

The return hose to the tank from the primer has to be an interference fit into the top of the tank to stop leaks, it only has to push through a couple of inches.

I have a 445 after runing 1/2 tank of gas and it gets warm it dosent start and you cant get fuel in the primer bulb

This sounds very much like a blocked fuel tank breather, when the saw dies quickly slacken off the fuel cap, if it picks up again it is the breather, the breather is on the r/h top side of the fuel tank, it is a grrn valve pushed into the tank, pull it out and replace.

My John Deere stx46 riding mower acts like it becomes starved for gas after using for hour or so. Fuel filter is new, gas line new, coil pack new. Ran fine last year. Filter will be emtpy when dies, then...

Try loosening the gas cap a little...... there is a normally a small breather hole in the top or underside just above the seal which allows a small amount of air to enter into the fuel tank. Sometimes this breather hole gets clogged..... stopping air from entering into the fuel tank as fuel is used. Eventualy enough vacume pressure accumulates inside he tank causing a vapor lock. If you loosen your fuel cap slightly.... this should prevent the problem your experiencing. If it does... try soaking cap in deisel fuel or heating oil overnight, remove and allow to dry prior to re-installing. If the problem persists after a good soak, only option is to replace fuel cap. GOOD LUCK!

Opposite the fuel fill is the tank breather, and the return to tank hose if the machine has a primer, the back to tank hose fits on to an orange connection in the tank, it may have slipped off, next to it is the breather the early breather was two white pellets pressed into the tank, these will need to be removed and replaced if this is where the leak is from, the later breather is a white round assembly with a connection on the top, nothing fits to this conection, the breather can be pulled and and replaced if required.
