Question about Linksys BEFSR81 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 8-Port Switch (Retail) (NTRTLSEFSR81)

Open Question

I cannot make linksys router befsr81 connect to verizon fios router m1424wr. What should configuration settrings on the linksys router be?

I have good net connection from any of the 4 ports on the verizon fios router M1424sr. When I connect one of those to the input of the linksys 8 port router, befsr81, I get no network connection through the linksys router. I have given the linksys router the IP address 192.168.1.1 so it would not conflict with the verizon router IP address of 192.168.1.1. But this still does not connect. What configuration settings on the linksys router should I use?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

You need to check the ip address of your actiontec router, the default ip address of linksys router is 192.168.1.1, they should not be the same or else you will not able to connect the router to the internet.

To access the router web configuration

Let me also give you the site on how to add the linksys router to another existing router.

The linksys has 4 LAN port and 1 "Internet" port on the back - we ONLY use the LAN ports NEVER the Internet port - because your existing router is connected to the Internet - your linksys is connected to the LAN

Can i use a Bright House Surfboard Router for Verizon FIOS Internet?

If you can reset all the parameters, however if you know all the info I would suggest that you use something like a Belkin. You need the IP "name" for you, the connection password, and you really need to know what you are doing.
The only ISP that cannot easily be used with another modem is Sky as they deliberately use a different encoding. Yet again another reason NOT to use sky, it is difficult to monitor, and to use other equipment.

I want to use my Linksys WRT54G as a bridge going thru Verizon FIOS 9100EM. What settings needs to be changed on the 9100?

You really don't need to change anything on the 9100 but with the router yes. And setting up the Linksys router depends on how the 9100 was configured. Just let me know if you still need more help.

Your IP address for you linksys router needs to be changed.  More than likely there using the same IP address such as 192.168.0.1.
You have to convert your linksys router to a switch and change the IP address range it uses to on that doesn't conflict with the Verizon router.
10.150.1.1 should work.

Installing a Linksys Access Point to a Verizon Actiontek wireless router.

The IP Address of WAP54G is 192.168.1.245

Connect a computer to the Access point.

Assign a static IP Address to the computer, like : 192.168.1.10 , the subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0

Open the setup page of the Access point, by typing 192.168.1.245 in Internet Explorer / Firefox. Configure the wireless settings, Change the IP Address to the range that of the Actiontek router.

Save settings. To know about wireless security, click here.

To check the latest update on Linksys products, click here.

Hope that helps :)
