Question about Vacuums
This mop has a telescoping handle in two parts. To adjust, you turn the collar between the two parts in one direction, extend or shorten, then turn the collar in the other direction to tighten. The handle on my new mop has jammed in the extended position and the collar won't budge at all. I suspect the two parts of the handle may have been jammed together while the collar was in the locked position, because when you're attaching the fabric pad to the mop you have to push down on the mop head with the handle in order to lock it flat again. Any suggestions for unjamming one of these collar-style telescoping handles?

I have a electrolux 2000 and my tube has a small tab that you push before it would let me release it. I had trouble getting it off as well. What I did was push the tab, Plasing one foot on the vaccume head holding it down while pulling up and twisting. I'm not sure if yours is attached the same way but this method worked for me. Good luck!

This is usually caused by a build up of dust in the flexible pipe. It stops the pipe from compressing down and so you cant push the handle down far enough to get the latch to click home.
Try stretching the hose to its fullest extent and while someone has ut stretched, give the lengthe of the hose a good beating to knock the drit in it loose. Alternatively, if you can remove the hose, fill it (and boy will it expand and slosh about!) with a mixture of hot water and floor cleaner (I use flash) Slosh it about intil the hose is full of gunk, then pour it away. Then, put the hose in your airing cupboard (Stretched out!) overnight to dry. When you put it back together it should now compress enough for the latch to clich home.

SOURCE: Shark steam mop won't steam
I have had my steam mop for about 2 yrs and absolutely love it. I have not experienced any difficulty with it until I recently noticed it would heat up but not steam.
I contacted Shark's Consumer Products services at 1-800-798-7398 and the person on the other end was very helpful. After giving me a few pointers, we discovered that my mop needs repairs.
They have a one year warranty, which my mop is past, so I will need to mail it in to them with a check for $9.95 for return shipping and a check for $17.95 for repairs. They will replace it if they are not able to repair it for no further costs.
I highly recommend giving them a call. There is also a live chat available on their website that can point you to the service or person you need to speak with.
