I have a photo smart all in one printer, scanner , fax that will not scan. When I try to scan it gives me an error message that I need to install or run hp software for this feature. When I try to download the software it tells me the software is already loaded, In the past I have used scanner before without problems

Hey i also had this type of problem. but i solved it and hope it will solve yours too.
first of all uninstall all ur hp drivers and softwares related to the hp printer. then restart your pc. now disconnect ur printer with ur computer and turn it off and again on after 15 secs.
now insert the cd which i have got with the hp printer in the cd-driver of ur pc and install the driver.
after the installation is complete, connect ur printer, but do not remove ur cd.
then start scanning, and if it will again ask for installing driver, u dont have to worry it will install it from the cd.
this would surely help u, if problem persists, please tell me.

My photosmart 2610 all in one . When I try to scan it gives me an error message that says "switch off and start again". I did this several times but it didn`t work. And i have install and run hp software for vista but is not work !What shall I do?

lift the lid on your scanner lay the photo face down then select scan document/photo it will ask what format you want to scan it then it will ask where you want to save it browse select the file/folder where you want to save it (my pictures) most common or the drivers for the scanner might have been corrupted you might have to uninstall the printer/scanner restart your computer then reinstall the printer/scanner and its drivers click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options plus you can troubleshoot hope this helps
Hi Good day!!! The way it works for me (different HP all-in-ones, earlier photo smart) is I start Photo Smart, then (once it's loaded), I press the Scan button, and it scans (or brings up a scan menu on the little LCD on the scanner where I tell it to scan).
If this is what you're trying and it doesn't work, you might not have installed the software correctly. The scanner drivers are very picky about when you plug in the scanner to the computer during installation -- if you plug it in before the install program says to do it, the scanner won't work (though the printer will).
The thing to do in this case is (1) unplug the USB cable from the back of the computer, (2) go to control panel->add/remove programs, and remove the scanner drivers, (3) shut down and restart the computer (very important), and (4) put the HP CD into the computer and reinstall the scanner, only connecting the cable to the computer when the program tells you to do it.
1st step : Turn on your *HP Deskjet F4185*. 2nd step : Click the Start menu. 3rd step : Click Devices and printers. A new window will appear. 4th step : Then, click the "Fax button ".The window Fax and Scan window will appear. 5th step : On the lower left corner , click "Scan" below the "Fax" button.Scanned documents (if there's any) will appear. 6th step : Click "New scan" button below the "File" button. 0x error codes indicate that the product has an internal error. Try to reset the printer:
1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product. 2. Remove the cartridges from the product. 3. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges
' message to display on the control panel. 4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product. 5. Wait 60 seconds. 6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button 7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product 8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so. 9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.
