Something went snap!

Hi, I opened my Baumatic BDW5 dishwasher the other day and the was a worrying SNAP sound that came from the borttom left hinge. The spring has now gone (it won't spring up, closed) and the all the lights are flashing on the display and it won't do a wash. I'd like to have a look and fix it myself but don't know of any technical documentation to show me what I should be looking for.. .. er help!! Cheerx John

That's superb. ...£3 is hardly anything.. ..great thanks for that.
Have any of you guys experienced a problem with the motor/pump

about 30 seconds after closing the door for a cycle the pump makes a terrible grinding sound. ...all the way through the cycle til the end

how easy are they to replace?

any idea how much they are?

    Good plan

it's been grinding for ages and we're kind of used to it's rather grating noise.

we'll give it a good clean as you suggested and hang fire for now

incidentally. ...the seal seems to be letting steam come out the top of the door. ...

    are new seals readily available?

    Thanks and thanks again

Look for a Baumatic supplier online and phone for 2 new doorstraps. They are quite easy to fit yourself. The door should close properly after this and work. We have gone through many doorstraps on our machine, so we usually buy another spare set at the same time for future use. They are pretty cheap and should arrive by post in a week.

I've had faults with everything you can imagine with this dishwasher. It always makes a grinding noise to start, but generally quietens. Try cleaning your dishwasher firstly. I put bicarb of soda/baking powder in the tablet compartment and in the small compartment beside it, I add white or cider vinegar. It makes a fizzbomb, so get the compartment door shut fast. I then run it on the hottest wash (making sure there is a good supply of salt in the machine). I run it again. This will leave your machine spotless and might just unclog any gunk. Otherwise, hang on till it blows, cos there'll surely be another fault on top of that by then and that'll make the engineer's visit more economical!

Same thing happened to me. The door spring broke on hte right side. Got the baumatic people to come out to fix it at a fixed cost of £79. I think the spring part is only £3.

Top tray wheels keep falling off

I feel for you! I have been tortured by the blasted wheels falling off every time I go to put something into the dishwasher, or want to empty it. To add to it all, this part is no longer available to replace, which I need to do as one of the clips finally snapped off. It is a highly frustrating design flaw in this machine.

Baumatic b15 drain pump will not stop.

Sounds like a dicky or jammed water level sensor. Get a qualified and licensed technician to check it out. The sensor and labour to replace it should only be around AU$50 or AU$60 dollars (excluding callout or pickup / delivery fees).
