SOURCE: Freezer section not freezing

If you only had ice buildup in one section of the evaporator you have a weak/inefficient compressor.
You need a new compressor or a new refrigerator.

SOURCE: 2003 model 73182301 Kenmore refrig.

As per the problem which you mentioned, it indicates towards defrost problem. The freezer unit is not defrosting. And due to that the fridge section is not getting cold.-----------The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------- But in your case ---- It's starting the cooling procedure, and then while defrosting, it's not working. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- Manual defrost procedure is good option to confirm the problem, which you have already tried but problem is same even after manually defrosting, this clears that problem is there with defrost assembly.-------------- Defrost heater and defrost thermostat both located beside the evaporator coils in the freezer section. And defrost board located in the fridge section back panel. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I believe it would be the defrost drain from the freezer is clogged. remove 4 screws in Refrigerator section which hold light bulb, temp sensor assy, etc.
there is a drain pan built in to the rear of this unit, and a tube which goes from the pan to the base of fridge. be removing the unit, you will be able to see if the drain pan has clogged, or if you need to carefully snake the drain tube.
Our unit the pan clogs every couple years.

My Refrig is collecting water in the bottom. My freezer is on top and the refrig is on the bottom. Water collects in or under the produce trays. What could be wrong

Without a model number or even a brand, this advise can only be general. You have a blocked defrost drain. Each time the refrigerator does an automatic defrost, the resulting melted frost needs to go down to a drain pain near the compressor, where it will evaporate. If the path to the drain pan is blocked, the water has to go somewhere, in your case, down the inside of the liner of the refrig and to the lowest level, under the produce trays. There may be a tube down the outside of the refrig on back which can be removed for cleaning, or the blockage may only be accessable from the area right by the cooling coils inside the freezer section. (usually located behind the back wall, but sometimes under the freezer section floor) You may find that flushing the drain tube using a turkey baster with warm water will be all that it takes to solve your problem.

Water draining in bottom of refrigerator

Unplug the refrig . Inside the refrig section , remove the 4 screws ( 2 on each side ) and
lower the panel . Disconnect the large plug and remove the panel by pulling froward to
clear the defrost drain hole .Find a food safe caulking or odorless silicon and caulk at the
upper portion where the styrofoam meets the plastic AND on the top center of the styrofoam (
all the way around the large rectangle hole ) so that the styrofoam will seal to the top of
the refrig . When the refrig goes into defrost , the water is seeping between the refrig top
and the styrofoam , causing it to run into the refrig section . When reassembling , be sure
to plug the large plug back into the refrig .

Kenmore Cold spot refrigerator model 106 70182001 leaking inside in the back of the refrigerator. Having to keep bowls in the back of the top shelf. How can I fix this?

Your defrost drain in the frezer is cloged. Every day when your refrig sellf defrosts the water should drain into a hole that leads to a tube wich drains the water to a pan under the refrig. You need to turn offrefrig and remove frezer floor and rear wall and clean out hole and tube with hot water.

My Fridgidaire Professional series refrigerator has a puddle of water in front of it about once every other day. The puddle is around the front on the freezer side of the fridge. What can I do to fix this?

Drain line in the freezer section is clogged, needs cleaning. There is a small drain pan on the bottom of the rear wall in the freezer. It is covered with ice. Defrost or remove ice, and get to the drain hole. try flushing with hot water, if does not help - clean mechanically on both sides of the drain line - in the freezer and in the back of the fridge, where it comes to the drain pan near condenser/compressor.

Water laeks into the refrigerator part of refrig from the freezer above. pan at bottom of refrig is dry. I think drain is blocked. how do i solve this for a whirpool model et18nkxjw00

you are probably right. the drain is located behind the back wall of the freezer section, under the evaporator coil. simplest fix is to remove the rear panel and unplug the fridge, prop the doors open and let it melt on its own, a hair dryer or hot water may speed up the process.

It appears the defrost drain inside freezer is blocked or the drain tube leading to pan near compressor is clogged I would unplug refrigerator and remove the back panel in freezer to examine the drain and get back with me to let me know what you find, also get model number for your refrigerator so I can help you better. Sea Breeze Look at following areas for the model number
  • Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
  • On Plate Lower Front Or Rear Of Cabinet
  • Beside Compressor Door On Right End
  • Near Rear Of Cabinet
  • Inside Liner At Top

WATER DRIPPING FROM TOP OF REFRIGS MAIN COMPARTMENT

The drain is clogged.

This water should be going down the drain to a pan under the ref.

The drain starts under the cooling coils in the freezer but can be clogged anywhere. Some models will have access in the main ref in the top - rear, a small cover can be removed. Some will have access on the back of the ref. you can see the drain tube and an elbow where it come out of the ref. remove the elbow and check for clogs.

LG GR727RB Top Freezer ok but bottom fridge is not cool

Hi softwaredude with an LG GR-727R refrig. The occasional build up of water on the bottom of the fresh foods sections tells me that the refrig is going through it's defrost cycle, but that the defrost drain is plugged. If you take the back off the refrig. you will see a plastic tube about 1/2 inch diameter with a few ribs on it going from the top of the compressor compartment to the bottom, which is a defrost water holding / evaporating pan. Look to see if that tube is plugged. If not, it is plugged further up, most likely where the defrost water drains off the evaporator (that the coils behind the freezer wall that do all the cooling). Take that back panel off and use a hair dryer to melt all the frost off. The frost is blocking air flow from the freezer section to the fresh foods section, thus poor or no cooling in the FF section. You should be able to spot where the defrost water is suppose to drain. If the water is not draining out, use a turkey baster with hot water to flush out the drain.
