I have an IBM ThinkPad 1400 as in the title, and when I turn it on the LCD panel doesn't turn on. If i connect an external monitor I can see the desktop but no picture on the internal monitor. If i can fix it or the internal screen is not usable anymore?
I am afraid you are correct, your laptop screen is not usable and unless you’re a trained professional I do not recommend trying to repair the monitor itself. In fact, to do so would be rather dangerous to your own well being, but you do not have to throw your ThinkPad away. You could continue to use it with the external monitor or you could send it into Dell and pay them for a replacement. Look around though, there are probably other people who could provide this service for less, beause large corporations usually charge you more than necessary.
