No audio on acer aspire x1800

Hey guys Got something really confusing me here. I have an acer aspire x1800, it has an on board realtek sound device. I hear only static through my headphones and speakers, even when the sound is mute. It used to detect anything Id plugged into the jacks but now detects nothing. Now, last night I was trying to DIY a cable to run from my guitar amp into the mic port of my computer, could I have wrecked the sound device by doing this? Thanks guys

You can try updating your drivers. Go to your control panel and search for "device manager". Then find the audio devices section and click on each of them one at a time and select "search for driver updates". This should help with your problem.

How to change soubd tone on acer aspire one

  • Find out which audio controller is installed on the system. Go to the "Control Panel" and double-click on the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. Click on the "Audio" tab to see what is listed for the default device for sound playback.
  • Download driver and software updates directly from Acer's website (see Resources). Save the files to a folder, and then run the setup program to install the software.

  • Download and install a new software driver for your laptop's on-board audio controller. Many audio controllers in Acer Aspire laptops use the AC97 Audio Codec driver. Go to the Realtek website and click on the "Downloads" tab to see available software (see Resources).

  • Adjust the sound using the Master Volume setting. Right-click on the audio icon on the toolbar and select "Open Volume Control." Use the Master Volume and Wave input settings to adjust the volume of the audio that is being heard.

  • Use a software program such as the Realtek Sound Effect Manager to control and adjust the laptop's audio settings. There should be an icon on the desktop or toolbar, but you can also find the program in the Control Panel as well. The program contains an equalizer with presets to choose from as well as mixer and audio I/O options.

My acer t310 no sound.. maybe because i didn't install sound card or something

You need to install the audio drivers for your computer. This can be found on the disk that came with your computer. Click here to download the audio driver On-Board Realtek RTL8100C. Or you may need to install the Onboard C-Media Audio driver it is located a third from the top. Depends on the audio controller used on your mainboard. Try the Realtek one first, if this doesn't work then try the C-Media audio driver.

Thanking you

No sound on Acer X1800 with MCP73T board

If the sound card is built-in on the motherboard then;-
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site Make sure you select the model of your motherboard and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you that require matches the Windows version that is installed on your motherboard. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -

The sound of my computers audio is strange. The computer is Acer Aspire E380 with Realtek High Definition sound card. Can anybody help me?

Try this, double click on the realtek HD audio icon on the system tray (orange speaker), click the effects tab, check if there's an active sound effect, change the effect to none, this should return the audio back to normal. Otherwise, either there's a problem with the speaker or on-board sound card.

How to turn-on/function mic in my acer aspire one pc notebook?

To test the microphone, click "start" button, then "Control Panel", then "Sounds and Audio Devices". On the popup window that opens, click on the "Voice" tab, then click on the button that says "Test Hardware". After several seconds this will bring up a test program that will show a noise level meter when you're speaking into the microphone. (The default device listed under voice recording should be "Realtek HD Audio Input".)

Acer aspire 4730z-sound is very poor

Have you tried updating your sound drivers? You can click Start, then type in the box, devmgmt.msc , to see what your computer has.

Acer really seems to like Realtek cards. http://www.realtek.com.tw for the drivers -- probably the "High Definition Audio Drivers" is what you want, if you have the realtek card.
