Question about Computers & Internet
The HP Pavilion 7915 will need a wifi network adapter card to connect to a wireless network. You would need to add an wired network interface adapter card to use a wired network, instead of a dial up connection. Check the height of your computer - a "Low Profile Card" may be needed. There are several versions of the 7915.
You can get a USB network adapter or a PCI slot card for either type of network from most computer stores. Depending on which version of the 7915 you have, you may have a limited number of USB ports. In that case the PCI card may be a better option assuming you have an available slot. Other models only have one PCI slot which can be blocked by a VGA card.
What OS is on your computer? I see some models shipped with XP and others with an older version of Windows. You will need to find a card that has drivers for your OS. Finding XP drivers will be easier than those for the older versions of Windows. Depending on the unit you order and your OS, the drivers may be already be installed in the OS. In that case, plug it in and go.
If you go with a PCI wireless network interface card, turn off the computer and unplug all of the wires before opening your case. Ground yourself relative to the computer by touching a metal part of the case before continuing. Remove the slot cover screw (hex head with a Philips slot) (for most desktops) from an available slot. Push the section of the card with the gold contacts fully into the slot. Work carefully and keep the slot section of the card between the case and motherboard. Press firmly and make sure that the card is level all the way across. Then screw the slot bracket down. (Note: you could remove the fax/modem instead of the cover if you do not need the modem.)
For a USB interface option, just plug it in. When the drivers are installed (follow the directions), attach the wifi antenna (if needed). Try to identify available networks (in XP click Start > Control Panel > Network then go to the network wizard to add a new network). Use the network ID and password for your wireless router. (I assume there are other wireless devices and the router has been set up; many older models need to be attached to a computer via a wired ethernet port for the initial set up. Most models have an initial name and password that should be changed.)
I hope this helps. If you have additional questions, please provide more information about your computer's OS and available expansion options. Also indicate what router you are using.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hey there, go to the following link and tr to reinstall the driver. just enter your model numer (ie dv9074cl) then enter your operating system then it will bring up every driver for that laptop. Make sure you blow out the top left corner slots with canned air on a regular basis with these hp's or they will overheat and eventualy fail. Very important, the are notorious for this. Let me know if you need any thing else

SOURCE: I was able to connect
Your Compaq V2000 has an Intel Pro Wireless 2200 BG wireles adapter. (doesn't support N, but that's not the point I think)
If your new network configuration is based on WPA/WPA2 encyption, this adapter has some known problems to establish a connection. It works great with WEP, but not so well with WPA.
Sometimes the issue can be solved by installing the latest versions of drivers and software for the wireless adapter.
If it still doesn't work, a known workaround is to disable via device manager all other network adapters in the computer (ethernet adapter), leaving active only the Intel Pro 2200 wireless adapter.
Hope it helped,
