Question about Century 80GS Flux - Cored Wire Feed Welder

Open Question

My Century 80 gasless wire feed welder got hot and stopped feeding wire. What happened, and is it fixable????

I was welding a 3/16 x 22" piece of flat stock. I was running a bead the length of the piece. I was stopping about every 4" or so and on my third section of 4" it suddenly stopped feeding wire and throwing an arch at the same time. When I turned around I saw a little smoke coming from the lower housing. I unplugged the unit, allowed it to cool and than plugged it back in but nothing would work. Is there anything I can do with it??? Can it be fixed??

SOURCE: difficulty changing the wire

check the tension on your drive rolls. Also check if the drive rolls are correct for that wire size.

Why does my cmapells haussfield welder not feed the wire correctly (it stops feeding in mid weld then picks back up) and just stop feeding completely after 10 min of welding?

Check the "duty cycle" for your unit. If you try to run it too hot for too long, it will shut itself off to prevent overheating.

I have a century powermate 70 mig welder and using .30 fluxcore wire. the machine says that it is gasless also. the machine will not weld right. is this the right wire or what could be wrong?

Check that your ground clamp connection to the weldment is secure (tight).
you can weld with the shielding gas, or without.
by not welding right, what exactly do you mean?

Welder will only weld for about three inches on high

If it won't push wire through gun you might need to tighten wire rollers, or check the liner for bad spots.

Century mig welder. The wire speed is spinning at max speed as soon as the machine is turned ON. Will only stop when machine is OFF.

My Century 225 mig has lost its power ...with adjustments to max it leaves a high weld deposit and low penertration.

What is the fix ?

Northern tool brand wire fed gasless welder feeds wire fan work no welding?

You need to have the ground attached to what you'll be welding on. Make sure there isn't anything on the end of your wire. Also, if your voltage is all the way down it won't do anything either. Oh, one more thing, make sure you have a contact tip on the end inside the cone. That will be the copper thing the wire goes through with a really small hole. I know some of this sounds pretty obvious but if I hadn't done these things at least once.....I wouldn't know what to look at either. I also don't know your experience level and want to cover all avenues. Hope you find it!

I have access to a century mig model 117-3-, 90 amp, 120 volt. the wire feed works and it welds, but it isn't getting 12 volt power to the feed. it might be the circuit board. i know the feed works...

yes its fixable, check the main contactor for proper voltage first, power boards are high dollar,so check the price of new one then decide if you want to put that type of money in the unit.
