's the bearings that are going bad, you can go on the Hitachi web site, put in model # parts breakdown, which will show you the chop saw torn apart and how it comes apart the bearing that goes bad is the one nearest the blade because it gets greater pressure applied to it, I would replace both bearings while you have it apart. and you can order the bearing while on the web site. Good Luck.

Sounds like the thrust bearing is worn to the bleep. Though I suspect it's not Synchromeshing. Some part of the Clutch mechanism failing critically.

Did it run out of Oil? BUT then maybe damage has been done to both the internal of the Gearbox as well as the clutch, so yeah STOP driving it before more damage that can set you back a fortune

I have a grinding sound in the front of my 1998 mountaineer, also i have my abs light on, and was told i have a bad hub and a bad differential

checking gear oil is not checking for a bad gear or bearing with the hub that will also pop the abs change the hub because if grinding is indeed the hub not long from total failure which can cause accident as well as serious injuries

TAPPING NOISE, NOW IT WON'T GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND ACTS LIKE TRANSMISSION WON'T ENGAGE TO DRIVE

If it is an automatic transmission, first check the fluid level. If it is low, fill it up and try it again. If the level is fine, then there is a bigger issue and you should seek a professional's help.

I have an 09 fatboy the starter sounds like it is jamming sounds like it is trying to start a motor already running clicking and grinding the dealer replaced the clutches or something..lol but...

The "starter clutch" or "over running" clutch would be my first guess as well but I'd also have checked the gear on the starter jackshaft and the ring gear on the outer clutch drum. Any damage on the latter two parts would be visible and I'm quite sure the mechanic checked for that as well. The mechanic would have to take the starter jackshaft off to get the starter off. I'll include a link to a picture of the starter. http://www.bikebandit.com/1993-harley-davidson-fxr/o/m1406#sch141704 The starter clutch is part #37 in the drawing. Now, the starter on your bike is a Nippondenso starter. I've heard these starters make a noise that sounds like the starter jackshaft gear grinding on the ring gear but upon inspection, no damage was found. I think the noise was actually the starter trying to engage but it couldn't and retrying again very rapidly. So rapid that it makes this noise. I finally sprayed the starter motor brushes and the large copper contacts in the solenoid part of the starter with some electronics cleaning spray. The problem stopped but I can't explain why. Remove the end plate from the solenoid part of the starter and get a can of electronics contact cleaner from Radio Shack or an electronic supply store. Spray the large copper contacts in the solenoid with the spray and see if that helps.

Good Luck
Steve

On low it makes a really loud grinding noise the higher you turn up the speed the slower it becomes.

It sounds like the Worm Gear is going out. The faster the motor runs,
the more damages the Center Gear is grinding away the teeth of the
Worm Gear. Things start to slow down, and eventually they will come
to a halt. It's time to replace the Worm Gear. Also make sure to use
new fresh Kitchenaid Food Grade Grease with the new replacement.

It sounds like the hyd. clutch is not working. If the clutch won't release then you can't get the transmission in a gear while it is running, without that grinding noise.
