Question about Tech Solution TS-2550 Shredder

Need wiring diagram/info for Tech Solutions TS2550 Paper Shredder

I opened the unit to clean it out. When I turned it over to dump out paper shreds, the entire shredding mechanism and motor fell out. All that was left connected to the case was the 3 position switch. I have it all assembled back together, but have no idea what the proper order is for reconnecting the wires to the switch.

The wires are as follows:

I have a Tech Solutions TS-2550 paper shredder that I've had forever. I took it apart to clean it as it wasn't shredding correctly. Unfortunately I inadvertantly disconnected the wire terminals to the switch. Can you tell me what the configuration is (what color wire goes to which terminal)so I can get it back together.

Hi,
Thank you so very much for going into so much detail about my shredder that wouldn't pull paper thru it. You were SO NICE to do all that & I sincerely wish I could send you a picture of the wiring. HOWEVER, I threw it away months ago when I got no answer to my problem. Guess I'm not patient enough :-) I sincerely appreciate your reply and wish that I could help you out. If I still had it, I'd just mail it to you :-)

My Staples 16 sheet Microcut shredder starts the shredding operation after I push the button and continues the shredding operation after I shred a paper. How can I get the shredding mechanism to stop...

It's a tedious process to clean it out. Most auto switch shredders use either a tiny little lever or an optical sensor in the paper feed slot. Usually removing the shred head, picking all the paper out and blasting all the dust out with air will clean it up. Then run a few sheets of paper with shredder lubricant (basically clean mineral oil) to oil the blades and it should be good to go again. Just be careful cleaning that cutting head. I've donated many drops of blood to office equipment over the years.

Unit won't turn off automatically

There could be a shred of paper blocking the sensor. It is good, and necessary, preventive maintenance to clean the shredding mechanism regularly to remove trapped paper.

Anti jam light is on unit will not run

The "anti-jam" light actually is a jam light and it is notifying you that the shredder is jammed. If you turn off the power and examine the shredding unit you will find shreds of paper stuck in the mechanism. Removing all of the shreds will get your shredder back in operation and the anti-jam/jam indicator will be off

Secure-Shred

Home paper shredders tend to accumulate bits of paper that have to be cleaned out from time to time. With power off, turn the shredding mechanism upside down and look for scraps or wadded up strips. Sometimes only tweezers and persistence will get rid of all.

Paper shredder does not turn off. I have to open

I'm assuming that it automatically detects the presence of paper... .

By opening the drawer you're disabling it from the safety switch. (they dont want you to shred your fingers from the bottom) There is probably a small piece of paper holding the feed sensor down.

If you're confidant, unplug the unit and take apart the plastic cover. Do not remove anything inside. Look for the small switch between the blades which 'feels' the presence of paper. There is probably a small piece of paper wedged between the housing and the switch which would fool the unit into thinking it has paper that still needs to be shredded.
Carefully put your unit back together and happy shredding.
This may happen often, remember what you did!!!

My paper shredder stopped working

First things First...UNPLUG THE UNIT. It sounds like it has been fed too many pages at one time. You may also want to dump any shredded paper so there is plenty of room for the shredder blades to pull in the paper. If the paper catcher is too full the blades can grab shreds from the bottom and stop the blades movement. Just be careful. Shredders can be dangerous.

Paper stuck in the Fellows Paper Shredder

  1. Remove Shredder from paper catcher bin
  2. Remove shredder cover from shredding mechanism assemble (approx. 6 screws on bottom of cover)
  3. Separate shredding mechanism from bottom cover (may have disconnect circuit board from assembly and other wiring from switches , sensors, etc,)
  4. Remove motor gear cover (approx. 4 screws)
  5. Separate shedder main drive gear from motor step up gear by pulling gear out
  6. Turn shredder mechanism up side down to access the cutting blades
  7. Use an adjustable wrench to turn the main drive gear to see stuck paper
  8. Use a needle noise pliers to remove paper shreds
  9. Repeat step 7 and 8 until all shreds are remove and cutting mechanism move smoothly
  10. Reassembly before testing shredder
  11. If you remove only some of the shreds, the motor may seize up and strip the plastic gears from step up gear.

Will not shred will go in Rev

I just fixed a similar issue. My AS702MX shredder fell off my desk while I was emptying the basket. When I tried to use it after that it only ran in reverse, not in auto/forward (it was not jammed). This meant that the motor was still working. Since this shredder is so old, no longer under warranty, and not working anyway, I decided to open it up. I unscrewed the 5 screws on the bottom (that's all), then the plastic covering opened up. While looking at the shredder from the top (without the plastic cover) you will see a small black plastic trigger mechanism in the middle (this is what the paper hits to start the shred) this piece will push a copper filament onto the motor to complete the "auto" circuit. Well the fall had caused the plastic trigger to dislodge on one side... I popped it back into place and closed it up, and its working fine now. It was really simple to fix.

Won't pull paper

Hi,

I have the same shredder with a different problem. Maybe we can help each other.

It sounds like you have paper jammed in the shredding mechanism. I've cleaned paper jams out of mine quite a few times. The first and most important step is to make sure the shredder is unplugged. Hold the unit up to look through the shredding slot. Some of the openings between the opposing shredding wheels will be filled with paper. Using a small screwdriver (narrow blade at least 3 inches long) you can gently push the paper through. It works best if you can us a pair of needle-nosed plyers to pull the paper out the other side. It takes patience, but it works. Good Luck.

My problem is that after I opened mine up, I turned it over to shake out shreds of paper. When I did this, the entire works fell out of the case and all of the wires disconnected from the 3-way switch. Can you look in yours and describe how the wires are connected to the 8 contacts on the switch. (a digital photograph would be GREAT!

I hope we can help each other.
