Thats a reall ry broad question, speakers are what you prefer i could tell you a least 4 different speakers that i like ,but then someone else could tell you what they like as well it really just goes on what you like and have heard, also you did not specify if your using the regular speakers in a car or subwoofers  but even still its really a matter on preference,i can however offer som good brand name for you to lookup, pioneer, sony, lanzar, pyle, clarion, hiphonix, rockford fosgate, mb quart, cerwin vega, all make decent speakers both regular and subs, well i wouldnt recommend sony subs but thier 6 1/2 are decent enough,oh yes also polk audio they have a pretty nice brand all around thier db series is very nice try circuit city they are going out of business so hurry quick at anyrate as i said its a matter of preference, a good source for speakers amps sub and what not is sonicelectronix they have a little of everything in there as well as reviews on different items so look around ask ppl around who are audio philes in your area see what they suggest listn to to different stuff and see what you like.

Hi there. I have an old KAC-9020 amp, but it is in very good condition and I wouldn't like to see it go to waste. However, the input for the amp is an 8 pin DIN cable. I could custom wire an adapter if I...

Julian,

I found the owner's manual on the Kenwood website. Please visit the link below:
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/Global/Consumer/Manuals/kac9020.pdf

You'll notice that the plug in the diagram is plugged to receiver/tuner/car stereo. Apparently it's a common plug/setup for the Kenwood stereos that have this type of output plug. You would just need to find any Kenwood car stereo that has this output to get the wiring of the plug if you wish to use this amp with a different car stereo. (Or just get a Kenwood car stereo that has this type of output). Good Luck.

If they fit then put them in. The only thing is, if your not using a amp they may not sound good.

Your sound system requires a 3000w amp. The best value for money amp I can find to help you is on ebay.Follow this link - current price is £149 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-3000-W-WATT-1-CHANNEL-CAR-AUDIO-POWER-AMPLIFIER-2-4_W0QQitemZ260408043705QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090511?IMSfp=TL090511131001r33597

Kenwood 138 and Performance Teknique 752 speaker problem

Hello passionatete,

It sure sounds like the speakers are bad. When I looked these up, the specifications said they are 5 1/4 inch. You should listen to a few different speakers in the size that you require, to see what ones you like best. I'd first make sure of the exact size. Many 5 1/4" speakers have tabs that allow them to be mounted in 6 1/2" openings. The best way to determine which speakers fit is to use the "outfit my car" feature at www.crutchfield.com. They have speakers starting at around $35 per pair. Another good online site for research and for purchase is www.sonicelectronix.com. Sonicelectronix sells speakers starting as low as about $20 per pair.

Kenwood, JVC, Sony, Blaupunkt, and Orion are all excellent speakers for under $30. There's others like Boss, Scosche, Power Acoustik, and Visonik that cost even less. Again, I'd listen first, and then buy.

Hope this helps.

If the unit was installed professionally no wire's will have been cut from factory harness. Yes you would need an aftermarket adapting harness so your speakers will work . Vehicle may also be equipped with a stock amp. be sure to hook remote wire on harness to head unit.

Door speakers

You will not be able to get much fill from door speakers. you could go splits in the doors, but they are build for MID and HIGH range. My advice to you is to POD yours doors out, so you get a better depth for your speakers. The best speaker I know for such an application is a Kenwood 8", 4 way. They are fairly deep, so you will need to pod. But they have wicked midrange.

Adding MP3 Input to Kenwood R/C

To be honest, I can't find one spec of info on that stereo on the internet. It's possible the DIN connection you see is for controlling a CD changer. If so, it's possible you can use either this cable or this cable to turn it into an AUX input. But without a manual or anything, it's hard to know for sure. You have to contact Kenwood.
