Question about Lexmark E220 Laser Printer

Open Question

Lexmark E220 printer feeds multiple sheets at once- how to repair?

Printer prints perfectly but often (usually) feeds multiple pages through at once, regardless of paper brand or quality. Printer has not seen a large amount of use.

The problem was indeed with the paper separation pad.  It's on the back of the E220 and is easily accessed by removing the rear paper feeder cover.  It has 2 clips that retain it and is easily removed by squeezing both clips inward at the same time.  There is a cork pad on the paper separator that wears down and causes multiple sheets to feed.  I purchased a new separator pad assembly on line (less than $10), replaced it, and printer works as new!  Cheap fix, and one less printer in the landfill!

Your printer has a separation pad that is worn out and needs to be replaced. This pad prevents the printer from feeding multiple pages. It is located in the inside front of the paper tray Assembly.

SOURCE: Lexmark Z715 printer feed paper

The feed rollers might be dirty from the ink. Try cleaning them with a Q-TIP with a little isopropyl alcohol.

You need to replace the separation pad. This printer is made by Lexmark, so parts are available through many vendors. The part number for the pad is 56P0691. You can google the part number to find a vendor closest to you for the best shipping charges. It is relatively easy to replace. Good luck.

HP Deskjet 5150 print is too small

Printers try to fit web pages on a single sheet of paper. If you configure the printer, in the print dialog, not to shrink images and text to fit the paper, it will print on multiple sheets of paper, but the correct size for the images and text.

In a Word document, it depends on what font size you have selected. Most people would rather have the web page print on a single sheet, with smaller images and text than were on the monitor; than tape together multiple sheets for 100% size printout.

Feeds multiple pages

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Paper Jam C84

Was the printer feeding multiple sheets at the same time, so that the sheer thickness of the wad caused the jam? If so, look into the slot where you load paper (this is called the automatic sheet feeder or ASF). You should see a small roller with a rubber coating. This is what pulls the sheets into the printer. Put one sheet of paper into the ASF and do a print. The Windows test print facility is convenient for this: start-control panel-printer and faxes, then right click your printer icon and select properties, then test print). If this works OK, put two pages into the ASF, then three etc. Observe what happens. If at some point more than one page is pulled in, it infers that the ASF is not working properly, in which case you will need to consult a technician (or have a go yourself at dismantling the printer). If the one-two-three-four etc page test doesn't produce a multiple feed, all it probably means, is that static electricity is holding the sheets tightly together. Make sure when you put a wad of paper into the ASF it has been fanned.

Report back on what you find, or if you have any queries on the above.

Multiple paper feed

The paper separator pad is worn out and will need to be replaced. It's a rubber pad that rests behind the paper pickup roller and is supposed to prevent what you're experiencing. Contact your nearest authorized HP repair center.
