The lens is what the camers sees somewhat like the human eyeball, you loose your eye you can't see, brake the lens the camera cant see

I dropped my camera (only a few inches) and now the lens won't open when I turn it on. How can I get this fixed?

A lens go in & out by using guide line. We called that part is LENS Guider/pin.
After drop down the camera the pin is damaged or the lens is out of guide line.
That's why it was stuck out side. But some how its go in and stuck again. With
out replacing the lens if you try to repair it then there is 99% chance of facing
same problem after few days. Cost near about the same like a new lens. Even if you
campier with new camera then a new lens + repair charges total cost near about a new
camera. If you have a luck any time that, if the lens came out again and not going in
then just give a light twist on the lens and try to on / off the camera. Some time it
will start working, if the pin not broken. But your symptom says that its broken. Thats
why its not came out. By the way watch the link for new lens & a video for how to replace
the lens. If you have a little knowledge about the electronic then you can take the chance
for replacing. But its on your won risk.

My camera wont turn on.

If the lens is stuck inside the camera and you hear a motor noise - changing batteries will not help. This has happened because the lens barrel is jammed inside the camera. Unfortunately, you will not be able to repair that issue. If the lens is stuck outside the camera, slightly tilted, and you hear a motor noise; you might be able to save camera. First, only use good batteries (stay away from alkaline batteries - waste of money), go with Energizer Lithium or Duracell Power Pix (you will get your moneys worth and have less problems with the camera). Second, very GENTLY, pull the lens barrel up and in the opposite direction of the tilt (to make the lens barrel straight), you will hear a slight click sound - DO NOT PUSH ON THE LENS BARREL!!!. Put in the new batteries and the lens should retract.

Kodak camera dropped lens cockeyed stuck open

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Canon 20d - lens stuck / jammed

HI BRIAN ,,I AM SAGHA CAMERA REPAIRER,I THINK UR PROBLEM OCCURS DUE TO JAMMING OF PLASTIC MOUNT ON THE METAL BODY OF 20D.TRY THIS

1} LUBRICATE THE JUNCTION WHERE LENS GET ATTACHED TO THE BODY WITH KEROSENE THEN TRY TO RELEASE THE LENS.REMOVE THE BATTERY FROM CAMERA ,TRY AND HEAT UP THE JUNCTION WITH HAIR DRYER A LITTLEBIT THEN TRY TO RELEASE THE LENS.

2}IF THIS THING ALSO DOESN'T WORK THEN YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE THE LENS PLASTIC MOUNT PUT SOME SHARP KNIFE LIKE OBJECT IN THE JUNCTION OF LENS & CAMERA & THEN PUSH IT UPWARDS WHICH WILL BREAK ONE OF THE PLASTIC LENS MOUNT COLLOR AND LENS WILL COME OUT WITHOUT DAMAGING YOUR CAMERA .LATER YOU CAN GET REPLACED THE LENS MOUNT FROM SERVICE PERSON. BUT NOW ATLEAST YOU CAN USE CAMERA WITH OTHER LENSES.

Nikon Coolpix L11 Lense Error

Hello that would be "lens error", which means the camera may have been dropped, bumped or possibly a piece of sand/dirt got inside the lens mechanism.

there are tiny plastic gears inside and may have chipped causing the lens to jamb. "very fragile"

one solution is to ask a camera repair shop how much a lens mechanism would be to replace. (if cost is more than 1/2 of what you paid dont bother)

another solution is to have someone sell your camera on an auction site for parts, to make some money towards another camera purchase.

You have a jammed lens error the lens has to be repaired or replaced. You dont have to drop the camera for this to occur it can happen when ever the camera is in your pocket or purse. it accidently gets turned on and when the lens is coming out it is obstructed and strips the little plactic gears in the lens.

I dropped my NIKON COOLPIX L10!!

The camera is very probably beyond economical repair (check your house hold insurance for accidental cover though) and I'd advise you to give it a good yank. You will find it sometimes clicks back into place. If its not covered under any insurance you have little to loose.

The lens is stuck

my daughter sat on ours while it was on and the lens wouldn't retract. I tried the banging repair suggested for a stuck lens. After quite a few tries, it got the lens to retract when turned off but it wouldn't stay out when on, so i grabbed the lens and gently pulled it all the way out while it was on and it worked! (phew!)
