How do I reset my pioneer deh-x6500bt car stereo and produce sound from my rear speakers?

a 'reset' of the entire stereo should be able to be accomplished by disconnecting the battery for several minutes: alternately if you remove the faceplate there should be a reset button you would need a pen to press, however you should be able to find the EQ levels and set the balance and fade I think it is so the rear produces sound, if that is not the case, I would check wiring to make sure nothing is loose. I suppose it could only be a software/firmware problem with the stereo itself however, if you have had this happen before and it was fixed without tinkering with the wiring.

Radio works but no sound

There are several amplifiers and boosters in the pillars. Start with that and move on from there. Sounds like something cutting out after it gets to warm. Make sure part no. for the radio is exactly for the one called for by vin.!!!

Why did my speakers in my 2004 honda civic stop working

hi,its possible the internal stereo amp has packed up or someones blown the speakers by playing it too loud,or as above ,check the mute button first.
if its not the mute button, get an old speaker off a house stereo and connect the wires to where the car speaker is connect and see if get any sound, this way you will know wether the stereos working or not,if you get sound, then its a speaker problem, thanks for using fix ya

Dim Display

On newer stereos, you might have to experiment with the "panel" wire.

I just installed a VR3, and discovered that the more voltage on the "panel" wire, the dimmer the display.

With no connection, you get full (daytime) brightness. With full voltage, you blank the display.

I wired mine up to the car's instrument lights through a 10Kohm trim resistor so I could adjust the "night" intensity. But if I dim the car's instrument lights, the stereo gets brighter. Oops.

Older car -- I can't just flip a software bit. ;)

But I gather a lot of new stereos are like this. The display on my (factory) stereo in the Mitsu dims a fixed amount when the lights come on, but doesn't adjust with the car's instrument dimmer.
