SOURCE: Furnace stopped blowing cold.

Hi!!

Replace motor fan and capacitor, it is a very simple task. Turn breaker OFF. Then all you have to do is remove about four screws from the top grill, about four more that fasten the motor fan assembly, unplugg electrical connectors and label them and install the new one and switch fan blades.

No special knowledge is required to perform this job. Cost: about $140 +-.

On the other hand, you call a HVAC technician, they supply the motor and capacitor, otherwise they won't give you warranty. Cost $300+. Look on the Yellow Pages for one in your neighborhood.

SOURCE: Air Handler Blower Unit Humming

More then likely it's the transformer. It may be getting weak. I've seen them hum/vibrate almost new and last for years. It's more an annoyance than anything.

SOURCE: Carrier Furnance Fan / Blower Doesn't Start (Model 58GP-125-GA)

With power off, locate fan motor capacitor (generally silver in colour).
Rating on capacitor will be in microfarads at specified voltage ( 5mf @
370 volts). Be careful to discharge before handling and return defective
cap. to source of replacement. They can confirm whether or not truely
defective. Replace and secure. Restore power and check operation.

Purpose of run capacitor is to provide starting torque that you are
presently providing by hand spinning. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: my blower motor will not start. it hums and gets

Assuming you are spinning it when the motor is humming, if the motor runs after spinning it it could be the run capacitor (replace) or open/broken start winding in motor(need new motor). Humming should indicate the motor is getting proper voltage. If motor does not try to run by spinning then open run winding in motor (replace motor).

Goodman clt60-1 fan not working loud humm

The hum is a good indication that the fan is getting power. Therefor, the fan is locked up or it has a weak capacitor. Attempt to spin while power is off. It should spin freely. if not, you will need to replace the motor. If it spins freely, I would attempt to spin the fan blade while it is humming. If it starts running fine, it is very likely the capacitor. If not, then replace the motor.

I installed a new Broan QML30SS range hood and fan makes loud humming sound as it runs

An old elecricians joke says "do you know why it hums? It dosn't know the words" Al kidding aside ,have you checked to see how free the fan blade is? The should spin very freely. It kind of sounds to me like it may be having a hard time comming up to full speed. You may try some graphite lube on the motor. If I recall Broan has a lifetime garrentee on the motor. You might just want to repace it if I am correct.

Rheem classic 80 fan motor on furnace hums will not turn on

Have you checked the capacitor? Try spinning the blower wheel by hand, if this gets the motor going you have a bad capacitor. If not, the motor will need to be replaced.

Loud blower on my Coleman Furnace

Usually a noisy blower motor is a bad bearing. The motors now have oil impregnated bearings and you can't oil them, you have to replace them.

I need to change blower motor

See if you can move it freely by hand. If so, change the fan capacitor. If tight, try oiling the motor.

Thermostat display has an image of a flame

Sounds like the circulating fan on your furnace is not running. This will cause the furnace to shut down due to overheating, and you can smell the overheating as well. You will probably have to press a reset button on the burner to clear the overheat shutdown. Check the fan belt if there is one. If no belt you have an integral motor. Remove all power from the system and make sure the fan spins freely. If it doesn't, try to work some oil into the bearings. These things always fail on a holiday, but if you can't get the fan spinning you're going to have to call in a HVAC specialist.

Kitchen aid dry motor noise

Try taking it apart again and try to turn the motor by hand. It should spin freely. If it does you've probably got a bad motor. If it is stiff or doesn't turn at all, then you might have missed something putting it back together. I wouldn't think you can overtighten the blower, it is probably something else, and with it apart it should be easy to see.
