Unplug the TV for 5 minutes and see if it clears. Is there a mute message icon on the TV screen (picture of a tiny speaker with a line through it)? It turns off anytime the volume control is touched automatically, so if that doesn't happen you have a problem with the TV itself.
sounds like the power board on your tv is shot.... whats happening is a capacitor or other component is getting hot .... as a fail safe your tv shuts off...... may get lucky and be able to open the back of the tv and use a can of compressed air to blow out the inside and it may start working correctly..... dust acts as a heat adsorbing shield on components so it will build up heat really quickly and then the heat has no where to go
