AGP x1650 pro 256mb just stops working

Hi

I bought a new graphics card a month ago and when i installed it using the manual e.g. uninstall old graphics card, take out old graphics card, put in new graphics card, install new drivers.

and when i start it up it works fine for like 5 min and then everything just freezes up and i have to restart. I was thinking maybe i need a new power supply since mine is a 250w power supply but what if not enough power did some damage or something?

anyway help out please

You wont damage anything but get at least a 450-500w power supply. Nothing should be damaged

hope this helps

try ebay,or craigslist. you will need a credit card. or just google it and see if there is someone willing to ship to where you are. better yet..just upgrade motherboard that takes PCI express cards instead...agp is outdated but still being used by a small percentage of users with old computers

ATI x1650 Pro Stops!?

For this card they recomment at leat a power supply rating of 450 watts. If you have lower than this then I would suggest upgrading the power supply. A 550 watt psu is reasonably priced and should give you plenty of power for future use. Hope this helps.

Screen going blank for a second or two while video freezes then jumps.

If you have on board graphics try removing video card and reboot when computer rebooted turn it of and refit card and restart when restarted computer should recognize new hard ware and should find the already installed drivers if not try installing drivers again
Sometimes windows does not recognize new hardware until its refitted
had this problem with modems alot and the above method solved it

ATI RADEON X1650 Pro, AGP Graphic Card 512MB compatibility

Maybe this post is a bit old, but on last deceber I bought an AGP 512MB ATI Radeon X1650 PRO for my Foxconn motherboard and I must say that it's simply awesome!
I can play most games on mid-high settings on reasonable resolutions (most on 1024x768) with good FPS (except with Crysis... but let's face it, did Crytek bought a time machine to warp a 2010 game??).
So, if you already have it, then congratulations, and if you still are thinking on buying it, then what are you waiting for!?
Also, it's AGP x8, if your motherboard support x8, then it should run perfectly fine.

Also, I have a bit of problems trying to run Prey on the X1650...
It always appears an error... it's not of much importance, as I have much better games, but I haven't tried it with high fancy graphics... :P

Replacing a Radeon 9800 Pro AGP graphic card

Axis 3000 is listed as 360w and this should just do as the card requires 350w. As you are going to Ebuyer anyway why not get a new PSU, they have a 450 watt PSU with a large fan for £16. Make sure you are getting the AGP version and not the PCI-E version of the card. I find eBuyer are usually open to replacing items and you could ask their tech support first.
