Red light on - clean pump

I have had my Whirlpool front loader WFS1071AW for just over a year now. The red light is on saying to clean the pump. I can't find my user manual I got with the machine and I can't find it on any web page. Can you please tell me what I need to do.
Thank you

'clean pump' is lighting up. I can remove the filter circular cover at ground level. Then what? The instructions unscrew the filter completely and remove it..clean the filter and the filter chamber...check that the pump rotor moves freely...reinsert the filter and screw in clockwise as far as it will go..

I don't see how to unscrew the filter completely and remove it. I can remove the black circular threaded cap, but just behind this is a whoite circlar plaug the same diameter that I can't remove? Is it meant to come away with the black threaded cap?

Lay machine on back remove black hose that runs from the tub to the pump at both ends. I found 2 toddlers socks, a chux wipe and 50 cent coin wedged in the hose. With a bit of diy i saved $$$$ and made the washer woman very happy.

How do I clean the pump on a front loader Whirlpool washing machine, when the filter is spotless. (Red Pump clean light is on) Machine doesn't drain properly leaving clothes soaked.

If you have a top front small panel, unscrew 3 or 4 screw then you can pop out the cover. The pump is right there, you can counter clockwise the filter out and clean the pump. Be aware to do it with the power off.
If you don't see the front small panel, you have to open the back cover at the back of the unit.

I have a WFS1071AW-7.5kg. It is stopping mid cycle and showing a red "Clean Pump" light on the front panel. Where is the pump and how do I clean it? Your help would be appreciated.

The pump is hidden below the removable kick plate at the bottom of the machine. Hold the plinth on either side and pul it downwards and outwards to remove it. The filter is unscrewed by turning anticlockwise.

This is covered in page 11 of your manual, a pathetically poor scanned PDF copy of which is supplied by whirlpool Australia if you go to this web address:

Enter WFS1071AW As the commercial code and select language ENGLISH

Note: This model has no drain hose to get rid of residual water, suggest you tip the machine back 45 degrees and have a towel ready to catch any leaked water.

Front loader has stopped mid wash and red light has come on saying clean my pump. How do I do this?

Not knowing which model you have makes it a bit difficult. Most front loaders have a little trap door down on the front panel somewhere. Behind this door is access to the pump filter. Usually, it just unscrews, and you pull it out. If your machine is full of water, expect a mess. remove any buildup of fluff, foreign objects etc. If your machine has no trap or access. Unplug the machine and drag it away from the wall. Lean the machine back against the wall to gain access underneath. You should be able to see a large hose from the tub to the front ( or side) of the pump. They are usually held on by a spring clip. Slide the clip back or unscrew the clip to enable you to pull the hose off the pump. Clean out any foreign objects you find. As before, if the machine is full of water, expect a mess. Front loader drain hoses usually exit out the top of the machine so lying the end of the drain hose on the ground wont drain the water.

I have a whirlpool WFS1071BD. When we wash the red light comes on saying clean pump and i can not find the manual can you help me out. Cheers Mark

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is the WFS1071AW version of the manual and the pump cleaning instructions are the same:
And then enter "WFS1071" Instructions for removing the filter are on page 14 of the user manual.
(Wth pictures)

Pump / Filter cleaning POWER OFF UNIT UNPLUGED:

Basically you open the lower panel by pushing down and pulling toward you at the top. Use something like a cake pan for catching water. Grasp the CIRCULAR filter and rotate it COUNTER CLOCKWISE until the water starts draining. WAIT until all the water possible drains. Then unscrew the filter and pull it out. Clean out any debris. Make sure to reach deep into the filter hole and CAREFULLY clean off the sensor if you can reach it and then reinstall the filter by rotating clockwise. Last steps install the lower panel and PLUG IN POWER.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Red light is on .Says clean pump i have cleaned out filter . Where is the pump?

Often, certainly on front loaders in my experience, the pump is visible after the filter has been removed. It should be possible to check that it is free to turn by hand/finger BUT REMOVE POWER FIRST!
It is possible to visually check whether the pump is working, with power on of course and the filter still removed, by selecting a spin cycle at which point the drain motor pump should start to operate.

Good luck,
