Xbox 360 live using internet through my laptop

I am going insane trying to connect my xbox 360 up to my laptop so i have the use of xbox live.

The problem is the stupid ip adress.

Ok i've been searching through google, and on utube and i have step by step instructions on how 2 do it.

. Like i've built a bridge between my local network and wireless.
. And i've gone to network sharing centre and all that stuff.

Ok i'm the only one that seems to be having this problem cause when i click on wireless network and go to properties, it prompts me to continue so i do. But...

Then up the top i Apparently should have i share tab button. Which I'm supposed to click on then check one box and uncheck the other.

Now here's where the problem is. I DON'T. And i'm getting really annoyed trying to find this share tab so i can check one box and uncheck something.

Please help me find that share tab or find an alternitive way of connecting my xbox via my laptop which is a Hp pavillion Entertainment Pc With windows vista, so i have xbox live.

Because i don't have a phone line in my room that's why i was doing it the other way. And i didn't want to go out and buy a wireless adapter for the xbox. But i'm getting a phone line in my room, in acouple of days. So i hope it works with the router when it's in my room.

Normally you would connect your xbox directly to the router. Is there a reason you are trying to connect to your laptop instead? (distance, etc.)

If that is what you truly want to do then first thing make sure you are using a CROSSOVER cable to connect your laptop and xbox together. standard network cables only apply to connecting to routers, switches, and other network controlers. If you are connecting two devices directly you must use this type cable. It is ussally red.

The share tab is only for sharing dialup connections to LAN connections. You are sharinbg two LAN connections so all you need to do is bridge them and make sure there are in the same IP group. Check the status of your wireless card to see what address the router is assigning to it. Then assign the IP to the wired adapter with a differnt higher number.. Example: If your wireless card is 192.168.1.100 then make your wired adapter 192.168.1.151 This should make it work.

Again, it would be much easier to connect your XBOX to the router like it was intended ;)

Trying to get Xbox live connected...

Follow these steps if you are trying to use a laptop :
1.
Make sure that your XBOX 360 is fully functional and your laptop is connected to the internet by means of a wireless card.
2.
Locate the Ethernet cord and connect it to both the computer and XBOX 360. Don't turn on the XBOX 360 yet.
3.
On your Vista, click "Start" then "Network". After select the tab "Network and Sharing Center." On the left tab, click on "Manage network connections." You will see a Local Area Connection and a Wireless Internet Connection.
4.
Use your mouse to select both icons and right click. Click on Bridge Connections. Turn on your XBOX 360, Sign In, and you will find yourself connected to XBOX LIVE.
5.
Once you are done, and you need to use your computer for other uses. Simply right click on the Bridge Connection and select disable.

My xbox 360 wont connect to xbox live and ive tried everthing

things you can do..... first start by connecting your 360 to the router and run a test through the system setting menu on your 360 dash board.... to do this go to system setting menu and select the network setting menu.... after selecting network setting there should be an option to test you`xbox live connection.... this is the first step in trouble shooting.... if your xbox connects to the network or router than the problem may be in the Internet connection.... after you have a connection between the xbox and the router... connect the router to the Internet and run the the test again... if you are connected to the network and the internet but still not to xbox live try doing a system update to update your system with xbox live.... after doing all of these steps you may have purchased and xbox that has been banned from xbox live and will not be able to join xbox live..... a more simple solution is that you may not have an xbox live account and simply need to set one up... this can be done through the xbox or you can go to www.xbox.com and set up a live account... you can also find FAQ's and trouble shooting steps there

Xbox 360 live on wireless router

In theory you should be able to "share" your internet connection. I use a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and I have a Linksys Game adapter on my son's 360. He has not complained about lag or slow server times unless other intensive bandwidth is being used.
